Do you use a focus token when you use Proton Rockets

By Patrik, in X-Wing Rules Questions

So Today I was flying Darth Vader with Proton rockets and I look down at the card and read "Attack [focus]: Discard this card to preform this attack." and I thought, wait a minute munitions that use Target Locks say "Attack [Target Lock]: Spend your target lock and discard this card to preform this attack.". So I was wondering if you have to spend the token because while the Target Lock using munitions tell you specifically to spend the target lock the Proton rockets do not. I look at the FAQ and saw nothing on this subject so dose anyone know the awnser to this?

Nope, you keep the token.

In general always remember the most important part of X-Wing rules: "Only do what the cards tell you to do".

Incidentally there are a few missiles that require a target lock to fire but don't require you to spend it, Homing Missiles being the main one.

Prockets and Homing Missiles i believe are the only ones that dont require you to spend the token/tl to use it but you have to have it around.

Its part of the reason people like having Homing Missiles around. Its not only an anti-evade token but its a pretty **** secure attack w/o ordnance shenanigan stacking.

Ion Pulse Missile.

...wow howd i not see that one lol. Ive been running Blount with an IPM lately and spent the TL every time. Whoops lol

Tracers too. Though I would hope so for an attack that does no damage.
