Navigational Hazards objective

By mcworrell, in Star Wars: Armada

Over on the Armada wiki they have a navigational objective listed that was never released titled navigational hazards.

I played it with a friend of mine today and it was a good time. Trying to figure out why it was dropped from the game.

I don't know for sure, but I'd say - because unlike other objectives, its time-intensive in the End Phase.

Keeping track of Obstacles that have moved, that havn't moved, it was an extra layer of bookkeeping on top of the whole keeping track of the Objective Points earned...

But it is interesting to try.

Definitely seems like one that got the cut because it didn't work well in time limited tournaments. However, seems like an awesome objective for chaotic fun casual games.

It was Fun to play. We agreed with your reasoning Dras. It did slow the game down a bit, but for 2 experience players it doesn't slow down too much.

Actually dropped to speed zero to avoid an obsticle.

Dropping to 0 is fun! One can get a rush from doing it.

Another reason it might have been dropped is that it doesn't seem to give very much advantage to second player compared to other objectives. Since the point of objectives is to balance initiative advantage it might not be a great objective in that regard.

I find it interesting that it states "moving through" obstacles, I wonder if originally moving through obstacles had a similar effect to landing on them? Would make obstacles way more significant but I can just imagine the arguments over whether or not your base clipped an obstacle at some point in its transit!

Yes, it seems like these might have been heralded from when Armada had X-Wing Flight Path movement....
