Printing custom class cards or tokens?

By Luckmann, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

General question; there's been a veritable spam of custom class threads lately, and I haven't really gotten into it, because it feels like theorycrafting and fishing for developer attention to me - not that I can't understand that people want certain classes and such. I personally would love more classes, and I'm a bit saddened by the fact that FFG doesn't seem to be working on any, with Mists of Bilehall and The Chains that Rust not offering any new classes at all.

But it got me thinking.

Is there a way to, without ordering large quantities of cards or paying an arm and a leg, get custom cards printed somewhere? What about class tokens?

I personally have never come across anything like that, and ordering low amounts of professionally printed things like that - especially the tokens, punched out or pre-cut - is something I could see as prohibatively expensive.

Filling some of the perceived gaps (we still need 1 mage and 1 healer) myself comes across as a pretty neat idea, but I'm not sure how feasible it'd be.

I did exactly this with some X-Wing stuff I and others created. I used a place called PrinterStudio ( http://www.printerstudio.com/ ).

They did a phenomenal job for me. The one thing I should note is that no where on their website does it tell you that the work is performed over seas in China. The issue with this is that if you pay via Credit Card, you will have a foreign transaction fee attached to the work. For me it amounted to $0.26 US. You can use Paypal to pay to avoid those fees.

Otherwise, it was done quickly, professionally, delivered on time as promised, and the work was superb.

Go to their site, and click on Playing Cards & Puzzles, and choose the appropriate sized card. Then you can upload front and back images for all of the cards you want printed.

For example, I selected Poker Custom Cards (Blank Cards), Standard 300gsm smooth, up to 54 cards, and my cost was around $15. Basically, that allowed me to create anywhere from 1 to 54 different cards for that price. Obviously, to keep your costs down, choose the smallest number of cards that will still allow you to generate the number you need.

I hope this all makes sense. If you have any more questions, just PM me.

Sorry but not sorry;) Personally I don't think it is attention fishing, how does that translate to the quest vault? I see it more like modding. You are correct that it stems from a lack of classes though. I would rather see (or have seen) that FFG didn't publish the H&M packs (or as many) and focused more on the classes. But back on topic, don't think you are ever getting that same quality print for custom designed things for a reasonable price.

Edit: if you live in Europe and play and American game that is. But please, prove we wrong. I want to be proven wrong:p

Printerstudio is great for printing professional cards at reasonable prices. I did the whole RAMV set recently. Quality is excellent.
