Are you allowed to shoot yourself?

By ThisIsDavin, in X-Wing Rules Questions

a strange one purely to satisfy my own curiosity...

Say I have a ship that does not have a straight 1 on its dial, and I strategically want it to move 1 straight (while willing to accept the cost of 1 damage), am I allowed to Ion cannon/turret my own ship from another of my own ships?

Or am I just stuck with having to just ION Bomb myself?

No, you cannot attack a friendly ship (refer p.16 of the FAQ).

Cheers!

First step of the attack sequence in the rulebook:

1. Declare Target: The attacker may measure range to any number of enemy ships and check which enemy ships are inside his firing arc. Then the attacker chooses one of his weapons to attack with. Then he chooses one enemy ship to be the target and pays any costs required for the attack.
There's nothing to stop you from dropping an Ion Bomb on your own ship as that's not an attack, but that's a waste of a 2 point upgrade and the area effect it has could hinder more than just the one ship you wanted to hit.

Yeah, like I said... pure curiosity... don't think I'd ever do it.......in a serious game..... ;)

This actually came up with someone flying seven Z-95's with deadman's switch equipped. Then it can be totally beneficial to shoot your own ships, if you could.

WhaatTT?!
