The Yuuzhan Vong is one of my favorite story arcs/ parts of galactic history. Thanks for working on this!
Invasion of the Aturi Cluster - Yuuzhan Vong Campaign
sorry but Yuuzhan Vong is so wrong ..... it one of the things i hate most about the old eu
People really aren't very good at reading are they?
I know there are those that hate the Vong, if that is you, please pass this post unless you have something constructive to add.
I enjoyed NJO, and I will follow your work.
This looks pretty cool. Longtime fan of the NJO series (among the best Star Wars series in my opinion, though not without flaws). Considering that it took the combined forces of the New Republic (well, the GA I guess) and Imperial Remnant to beat them back, I'm wondering if there should be a way to fly Imperial ships as well.
Awesome idea, are we allowed joint lists?
Also... where is the Aturi Cluster? I've got wookiepedia but I'm only generally familiar with the Deep Core and Colonies.

Southern Outer Rim, in the Sarin Sector. Part of the Hook Nebula.
I thought the Vong were on the opposite side of the galaxy, and that the Scimitar Assault Wing decimated much of the previous Rebel forces there.

That is true, but I think the naming convention is being used because it's easy to relate it to the original HotAC that this is modifying. It could really be wherever, the location isn't important.
True, true. I'd love to see Yaga Minor fortifications for the Empire.

Its your campaign, feel free to modify it to have fun with your friends. I made this because I wanted to play a Vong campaign, and didn't think that would ever happen unless I sat down and made the campaign. So please enjoy and have fun with it!
To be honest, I never really thought about the location of the Aturi Cluster. Could change the name to any place, or it could be an advanced scouting unit probing the defences before deciding if its worth committing a large fleet. Considering the largest ship you ever face is the Advanced Scout (corvette size ship) this would logically make sense. It was listed originally in the campaign as a Miid-rok, but the scout makes more sense.
I have been getting help from Lee Knepper, his group is giving this campaign a shot! Him and his group will be added as contributors to the campaign, and their help is much appreciated. Making this campaign has been a labor love for me, but its frustrating when you don't have the time anymore to really play through it.
Rule update - will update the documents soon.
Armor
When drawing a card face up, discard 1 armor token. If it is a "ship" card, immediately discard it before resolving its effects. If it is a "pilot" card, resolve its effects like normal.
This allows the ships to have a tough feel as was seen in the books, but not making critical effects invalid like was seen in the previous versions of the rules.
Another change is that this campaign was intended for veterans. So looking at starting experience for people to use if they want to start new pilots to face this campaign.
How are you treating the spores that disable ships?
Cool idea. The Vong are cool, and it would be nice to see their ships in the game in some capacity. Great job on this, and keep going.

Refresh my memory as to what those spores were called.
I am a big fan of the Vong. They fill that hard to understand overwhelming threat that the Empire had been to the Rebellion before. Reminds me very much of the plot of the Halo game series.
I'm a big fan of biotech and strange religions and warrior cultures, so the Vong kind of made sense to me. As with all things expanded universe, there were some good ideas and elements, and of course, some really really bad ones. With so many authors contributing, you have to expect things to get out of hand. I mean, the things they were writing Luke doing by the end of the expanded universe was getting pretty ridiculous. Kind of like the comic book escalation issue, where comic writers continue to try and one up each other with their stories, pushing things to the extreme.
I did a write up of some of the ships a while ago, and purchased some from Mel. Haven't play tested a whole lot yet. I have a writeup of a lot of unique upgrades and elite pilots as well for them, including some that ended up becoming upgrades in the time since, such as the Atanni Mindlink and Tractor Beams. Pretty cool reallly.

We had some similar ideas about outfitting their ships. I had made my own rules for flying them before I ever thought about making this addon to HOTAC (heck before I even knew it existed).

Ok so I made some updates to the special rules file (can be seen in the shared folder).
I added rules for starting veteran pilots
I added rules for bringing in the NJO era ships, including rules for using a stealth-x
Updated rules for armor, how grutchin work, and a new modification as seen in the lore to fight Vong.
I will be working on updating story arc 1, missions 2-4 soon.
Story Arc 1, missions 1-4, are fully updated and are in a fully playable state. Story Arc 2, missions 1-2 are also fully updated and is in a fully playable state, and missions 3-4 will be fully updated soon.
All changes can be seen in the shared folder on the first post.
Just found this thread. Helluva necro, I admit, but this looks like an awesome idea. Certainly seems interesting, if for no other reason than the idea of joint lists. Looks like I'll need to be ordering up some Corralskippers!
