Timing....

By Baenre, in Talisman Rules Questions

Okay so two cards say play at the start of a players turn. Which one resolves first based on the fact that anohter character can trigger off the timing of each one placed in the discard pile?

Cards that "play at the start of a Character's Turn" are only Spells.

You resolve Spells in the order they're played and generally there's no situation when someone can use another Spell to cancel the actions you've done before (i.e. the Spells you've just cast).

Spells such as Sleep, Immobility and Time Steal are played at the start of a Character Turn. I think it's a duty of the players to cast these Spells before the target Character does something, but it's just my way of playing.

Hmm.. here's the situation..

It's my turn and i have Strength on the Wand. I went to cast it and my opponent had Gust of Wind. Which spell resolves first since we both cast them at the beginning of the turn.

Whoever stated that they were casting their spell first. If player A says, "I cast Strength" and player B then says, "Okay, in that case, I case Gust of Wind." Then Player A's spell will happen first. Seems logical enough.

What if they both say they are casting the spells at the same time? I mean it cannot be as arbitrary as "Whoever moved their lips first". You cannot ever be really sure when someone is strating their turn or the previous player is finished theirs.

If the two players both happen to say that they cast their spell at the exact same time, then just roll a die (1 - 3 Player A's spell goes first, 4 - 6 Player B's spell goes first). This does not need to be as complicated as you are making it out to be. In the end, remember; it is just a game.

I would probably give the first dibs to the active player, the player whose turn it is, or in this case just started.

Have each person roll dice and the highest roll gets to go first.
