Scyk Crack Shot

Trying to come up with casual B-lists. This may not be as effective as a TIE Crack Swarm, but it would be fun to try.

It would be one less Crack Shot attack and not as durable as the TIE Crack Swarm, but it does have Target Locks to make the alpha strike more effective and Serissu to aid in defense (for one round, probably).

Thoughts?

My only thought is that I've thought about it a lot, but being down a ship seems like a real handicap. Plus, I don't own that many Scyks.

Put a mangler cannon on them. That way the CS counts/hurts more.

Dials are nearly identical. So I can have either 3 AGI + Evade + Barrel Roll + free Hit to Crit OR 2 AGI + 2 extra hull + 4 dice at Range 1. With List B, I could give 2 of them Glitterstim to make the list 100 points.

I think I'd go with the hybrid build. Glitterstim is very powerful, but so is the barrel roll. I, personally, have more fun with Scyks, but the Black Sun Ace is no slouch.

Yeah, me too. I wrote a long analysis a few months ago comparing the 7-Scyk swam to the 8-TIE swarm. That was my main consolation -- every ship gets an extra Target Lock Action. But the more I think about it, the more I feel it just isn't enough.

Also, in the TIE CrackSwarm, you often have Howlrunner helping by allowing rerolls for the swarm. With focus + 1 reroll, they can hit pretty accurately. I think it outclasses a single target lock action.

It played really well. I went 2 - 2 in the tournament. I lost my first game against a swarm by one ship. We went to time, finished the round as he axed one of my kihraxz, giving him the edge.

I barrel rolled an M3A into a position that prevented another player from bringing a jumpmaster all the way on the board. Won that game with a barrel roll...

The hybrid was nice. I worried that I'd miss the extra 4 hull, but found evade tokens and barrel rolls more than made up for it.

With 4 points left to put towards something. You don't need Stim with all the free focus. You could FA both, or go asymmetrical and put a cloak and SPA on one of them. Or Deadman's Switch both of them if you aren't scared of hurting your own guys. I wish there were a way to squeeze 2 more points somewhere so you could upgrade the Scyks to HLCs, but oh well.

So it gets rid of Crack for a healthier lifestyle and picks up some jedi mind trickery.

I've been on the fence about mindlink swarms. I tend to feel having a mini-swarm and a non swarm ship to feed the focus to the swarm.

What's been the experience others? I just wish about that one fellar who only has the one Focus. Maybe taking Katoo as a companion would solve some of that?
