Piscopas's Paint Log

By Piscopas, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

Good job on the Tie.........Still in love with your Excellent paint scheme !

really do like your green and yellow squad colours :D

All the Best,

Barry.

Glad to hear you're all OK Piscopas. Life throws you a curve ball every once in a while and all you can do is throw your hands in the air and say "Plot twist!"

Back to painting: Your skills haven't diminished in your absence I see. The purple is a nice touch. I wouldn't want to have that Soontir on my tail; I wouldn't live to tell about it.

Just responding to this again because this is such a **** cool ship. He just disappears into the background of a starfield map. Coolest thing I've seen on the battlefield, watching him slip in and out between lava rock asteroids.

Hit a bit of hobby block, but I'm back in the saddle. Painted up a B-wing to get back in the habit:

On a related note...How many B-wings do I need? I have two (one blister, one Aces) I'm debating whether I should go with 3 or 4.

The Green Team is back! The B looks good. Gotta fly them in pairs though, so I say 4.

Maybe your Squad leader can have the colors reversed: yellow with green highlights. Just spit-balling.

Also didn't you say you had a K-wing that needed your attention?

Thanks, FM! A reversed scheme would probably look pretty good on one of the ships. I'll have to keep that in mind.

I do have a K-wing in the queue, but I've already started on one of my Headhunters. I can do a little Special K after that, though! Haha.

Nice looking B-wing there. Having flown a bit with them, I also say go for the 4 B-wings. Looks good on the table too.

Finished my first Z95 Headhunter today. It's...adequate, but I found the miniature itself to be uninspiring next to even the T65. I'm not really looking forward to three more of these guys. Ha!

I've been following your posts here for a good while, and this is the first time I've noticed that your guns are white, and not yellow or green (or black or silver). Huh. I like it. It's a really nice effect. Wonder why I was so blind to it before.

I'll take the Z's if you don't want them. This one looks really good! I like flying them and painting them too. My dream would be for FFG to allow them to carry two missiles or to be able to switch to different ordnance.

I wouldn't swap my Z-95's,I love the little blighters,(currently have six of them).

Really struggled on motivation with this one. I'd paint a bit, then leave it and jump to another project. I finally decided to knock it out though, so here's my first K-wing, callsign "Yak-face." The name is inspired by the pretty brunette on the Bombardier crew card.

Knocked this one out in just a few hours. My son wanted a Batman-themed ship, so I give you the "Space Bat," as he calls it. It's currently getting a coat of gloss varnish.

And here's the inspiration for this ship:

Space Bat!

I am not into superheroes at all. But the Spacebat is really cool looking. Neat paint-job! The bat logo is free-hand?

@Managarmr Yes, the Bat Symbol is freehand. I didn't thin the paint enough and I wish I would have trimmed that little "box" off of that panel so I could center the logo, but I'm pretty happy with it for just a couple of hours worth of work.

Stayed with the Black & Red theme for Vader's TIE Advanced x1. I kinda tried to make the top of the main hull look like Vader's shoulder & chest armor. Let me know what you think!

Looks good!. Did you have to pop the wings off to paint it?

The back of the TIE really does look like Vader's shoulder armor & breathing apparatus controls (or was is was that a built in tape deck? It was the pre - mp3 & CD era after all...).

Thanks! I didn't pop the wings off, but it was a bear to get in there with a brush.

Pro-tip: I don't put as much work into detailing the undersides of my ships...I just want them to look decent on the table!

As for Vader's armor... I'm pretty sure I saw a slot for 8-tracks on there somewhere! Haha.

I bet the dark grey on top looks even better in person. Nice!

That's what played the Imperial March whenever he entered a room.

And here she is! The Viridian Starfighter Group has obtained a new support vessel, and the mechanics have given her a suitable coat of paint. She just needs a coat of varnish and a name. My YT-1300:

Uuuuuu that looks good.
Love the clean repaints and the fact that you went for a unified theme.

Here's my latest. You'd think I'd be used to yellow but this one tried my patience. Now that this one's wrapped up, it's on to another E-wing.

I can never get my yellows and oranges right. Blues and reds seem to be my specialty. Your pieces are great, any tips?

For Yellows: Prime light grey or white, and then use a tawny brown color (like XV-88 or Averland Sunset) as the base coat. Follow up with 2-3 thin coats of your top yellow and if you're feeling really ambitious, do your final edge highlight in off-white. If you try to base yellow it will take a million coats. If you're more into washes, GW's Cassandora Yellow, followed by a wash of Seraphim Sepia or Agrax Earthshade make a nice dirty yellow (Cassandora by itself goes orange in the recesses.

For this ship, I based in the old Iyanden Dark Sun, wash of Seraphim Sepia, and then highlighted with Flash Gitz Yellow.

For orange, I base in a ruddy brown like Dark flesh, and then go to Solar Macharius Orange (I think it's Jokaero now), and then an edge highlight of a mid-tone yellow.

I hope that helps! Bright colors are very difficult to get just right.
