Designing something to cope with extreme cold in atmosphere is a different proposition from designing spaceships- even deep space probes.

On the way to space you could get much colder than near the surface of Hoth (assuming Hoth's surface is "only" as cold as Antarctica in the winter or so).

I wouldn't be surprised if the Striker was attached to some sort of Imperial special forces that are unconnected to the army/navy and Stormtrooper corps. Somewhat like the old Tie Hunters from were employed exclusively by Imperial Commandos and the Tie v1 appears to be excusive to the Inquisitors.

I also have to wonder if the AT-ACTs are merely armored cargo transports or if the armored cargo part of their name is referring to armored vehicles being transported within rather than the walker itself being armored (though being a cousin to the AT-AT, it probably is). Would be kinda neat to see the side panels slide open and a grav tank float out or AT-ST units deploy from transport racks.

There's a write up how this guy and the Jedi enthusiast are inseparable. The trailer features the Blind Jedi wannabe (or disciple of Kanan) to fight right near the crashed Xwing too. Could it be they both arrived in the same crash, the same Xwing? Two person wing???
