Hey scum players I need a little help with stealth device. How do you use the stealth device during game play? I am fully used to playing Whisper with ACD but this is a new mechanic that I don't see the benefit from. Using it purely as your action it only seems good for a turn like Glitterstem, the oh crap everyone is shooting at me and I need all my dice to change. I am just very curious to see how everyone else has used it.
My usage so far, I had The Mist Hunter at 3 hull and did my action to cloak. It was still pulled from the board but two ships had to attack it. Unfortunately it was lower PS to the other two ships fire otherwise I would have left it to attack. The beginning of the game cloaked so that I could make a de-cloak (2 straight) then 3 bank for a large opening movement.
Concern about using the card is that once a focus result is rolled the card is discarded, so it may only make one turn, is that the correct way of reading the card?
I am just curious how have others used it on the Mist Hunter. I saw it on Palob to steal focuses before a Uboat fires but how are others attempting to use this newer cloaking scum version.
Scum Cloaking
I tried it out on Guri. Worked pretty well. Gave him enough defence he soaked 3 T-70's firepower. Gives Guri some fun movement as well. I have seen it on Cobra to help him out. Worked pretty good.
Cobra and Palob definitely get the most play with it in my experience. Palob uses the additional agility dice, while I mainly see it on Cobra for more movement options. Could see Guri with it, and I could see Kaa'to Leeachos with it as well. It's definitely got its merit. Remember, the focus result is only a 25% chance, so it's not uncommon to see it last the life of a ship. Though I have seen plenty of breaking on first roll as well. That's scum for you, always rolling the dice. ![]()
I use it with Guri to give her late-game sustain.
Starvipers seems to be the default for the cloaking device. Becoming agility 5 for a turn. It has it's uses, for example if you know you will be heading across a nasty fire arc and cant avoid it it useful, or when you end up with a crit that limits your movement for a turn.
It is also useful with Advanced sensors, use your cloak then you can pull red maneuvers with out worrying about the repercussions so much.
It is much more of a right time right place version of cloak, where the Phantom is just your default free action.
The new protectorate fighter may also end up being a viable option too.
