Multiple colors of templates

By Clutterbuck, in X-Wing

So I was reflecting on my X-wing games today and it occurred to me: during the course of x-wing play, the templates can end up all over the place. It is not always immediately apparent where the desired template is located. So the thought I had was to have multiple colors. For example, all my 1 maneuvers might be green, the 2s purple and the 3s red. The 4 and 5 could be whichever color, and the range rulers perhaps a fourth color.

Now, some might be thinking this is a bad aesthetic. You are likely right. But I think it might prove helpful.

Do any of the third party acrylic makers sell mixed sets, or do all the templates need to be the same color?

Instead of multicolored templates you could always vouch for uniform color of varied brightness. It'd be aesthetically more subtle but readable.

I just align my templates in front of me then put them back in their place like a civilised player...

Pick up a template tray (I recommend Highbridge Brewing via Etsy, but there are others). Keeps you organized and improves transport.

I've had a LOT of luck from Litko. Contact Jim through Litko's site and I'm sure he can accommodate you, even etching the set with whatever text you'd like to make it all matching text!

I do have a different color 2 straight template because I used to always forget to decloak whisper. Anytime I do a 2 straight maneuver I joke about that ship decloaking :)

I was thinking something similar, rather than by 1s or 2s or 3s, I want all straights one color, and all banks a different color, etc. Range rulers a different color yet.
