Using plastic coins & gems (since this game is more tactile)

By Emirikol, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Someone earlier recommended plastic coins (gold, silver, copper) for tabletop play. That way when players 'fash coin around, it's a little more tactile ;) (ACTUAL WFRP COIN DESIGN is in the Old World Armoury p.6-8.).

I'd prefer something like these rather than just painting Abe Lincolns...although since there are no coppers for sale, I'm going to just paint some plastic gold or silvers. I thought of using the actual coins from the OWA (p6-8), but they're probably more of a PITA to go into that level of detail.

Exchange rate of gems:

Clear - 100 gc
Red, Blue, or Purple - 50 gc
Yellow, Green, Orange, or Black -25 gc

hey dude,

yeah that idea was mine (the thread is around here somewhere) - there are several other routes you can go down.

I went to someone who sells beads and bought coins that they use in making belly dancer costumes. They are very cheap and come in many denominations, sizes and styles.. (i got gold, silver and bronze/copper)

I also thought that one could get those plastic disc tokens you can get (about $20 for 1000) and spray them the denomination you want.

@ Emirikol - Can those coins be ordered from online? I've tried to seach gaming coins from every shop in Finland but all I find are "play euros" and those just won't do! Froo's link to cool coins turn out to be too expensive for my taste but these seem like plastic and are kids toys which should make them quite cheap?

I tried to find coins at some nearby craft places, but I couldn't find ones I liked. Just those gold plastic pirate ones.

Any place online that might sell some?

Try Campaign Coins

campian coins

Paizo sells them

They sure look great, but I don't think anyone in the OW (save MAYBE the Dwarfs) uses coins with different denominations, and buying those in bulk quantities would cost an arm and a leg :/

Campaing coins are insanely overprized (even without the shipping).

I was thinking of scrounging coin tokesn from my boardgames. Like from "kingdoms" and "Runebound". i think it will work fine, as long as you don`t mind the different coin sizes and numbers on them (small =brass, Medium = silver, large = gold).

I prefer that from actually spending money on, well fake money.

The best solution though would be if FFG printed coins to WHRP. I def buy as long as they are cheap and come in large numbers, either made of plastic or paper. Maybe they could throw in some elven and dwarf coins as well as a curiosity.

Otherwise I will stick with my cheap paper money tokens.

That;s an excellent idea. I'm gonna use my Runebound coins. Three denominations and all.

AND FREE! HA HA!
