Squadrons activating after last ship destroyed

By Saltire, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Simple question; do squadrons still get to activate after the last ship in a fleet has been destroyed?

Rules use the term immediately but I was told this has been amended to allow squadrons to activate but can't find any references anywhere?

Yes. The end-of-round rules were updated with the release of Wave 2 to accommodate Rieekan's effect. The game now ends at the end of the round on which all of one or both players' ships were destroyed. An additional effect of this change is that squadrons now get a final activation.

Keep in mind that this is only a squadron-phase activation as normal; therefore, move or shoot only, barring Rogue .

It is in the Tournament Regulations, because the assumption is you are playing at Tournament Rules...

When a Fleet is destroyed, the game no longer ends immediately . It ends at the end of the round .

Which means you still go through all of the procedures, which includes a Squadron Phase.

It is essentially wrapped up in this:

Tournament Regulations, Page 12

End of Round Each tournament round ends in one of the following ways:

• One Player Defeated: At the end of a game round, all of one player’s ships are destroyed. The player with at least one ship remaining earns a win and the opposing player receives a loss.

• Mutual Destruction : At the end of a game round, all of both players’ ships are destroyed. The player without initiative is the winner, but his or her Margin of Victory is 0.

• Six Rounds Pass: Players finish the sixth game round. The player with the higher score earns a win and the opposing player receives a loss.

• Time: At the end of a game round, the round time limit has been reached. (If time is called during a game round, players must finish that game round.) The player with the higher score earns a win and the opposing player receives a loss.

• Concession: A player voluntarily concedes defeat at any point during the game. All of that player’s ships and squadrons are destroyed. The conceding player receives a loss and his or her opponent receives a win.

Notice that all but Concession state "at the end of the round" in various ways, shapes and forms.

If you are not playing by Tournament Rules and Regulations, however - well, that opens up the whole other kettle of fish.

Brilliant, thanks guys.

One of those things where you think you've seen something but then keep missing it.

I was actually learning from GK, but then I felt bad and decided to go flesh out my answer. :)
