Advanced Sensors Quickdraw

By Spath2, in X-Wing

Hey all, I got to play advanced sensors Corran over the weekend, and was reading battle reports of advanced sensors brobots, and it got me looking at the other ships that can pull off similar shenanigans.

I noticed that Quickdraw has all the requirements. You can get Push the Limit, Advanced Sensors, and Engine Upgrade (39 pts) on there to get pre-maneuver boost/barrel roll. Plus, Quickdraw is a natural PS 9, with 3 attack dice (when you have the title).

I don't know if this will be better than Rage and Electronic Baffle (my other favorite build I've seen floated here on the forums). What do you all think?

It's probably a completely different ship than a Baffled version. You're making more of an arc-dodger ship (who dodges arcs often times by getting two actions then bumping into something so it can't shoot you). Whether is works or not will depend almost entirely on the dial. Engine Upgrade might be a bit pricey for something as modestly durable as Quickdraw, but Advanced Sensors is a possibility.

it really isn't better than rage/baffle

see, the difference is Corran can be built to soak damage for ages (except burst damage, ofc) between 3 agility + focus + evade + access to r2d2 to regenerate shields. You're looking at AT LEAST two damage canceled a turn (r2d2 + Evade) plus whatever the focus helps with, not counting sensor shenanigans (i.e roll/boost into the enemy to not get shot)

Quickdraw, though? Two agility, no evade and an ability that triggers only when taking shield damage

he's what we call a "glass cannon." He kills fast and he dies fast. Build him cheap and try to get as much explosive use as possible.

if you want a pseudo-sensor ship like Corran, you might want to check out bb-8 + ptl on a T-70. You won't be as tanky as corran, but unlike quickdraw you're outfitted with boost (and Thrusters, which are a huge help) from the get-go AND barrel-roll for only 2 points. With PTL triggering off of BB-8's action, you can stress yourself before performing the green maneuver to essentially emulate Advanced Sensor's effect. If you don't bump during the green manuever, you still get to take your normal action (sensor skips Perform Action Step; bb-8 does not)

plus, Poe and Asty don't lose synergy with their abilities. Poe can guarantee sensor-esque focus, while Asty's white T-roll leaves you stress free to immediately bb-8 the turn after

for straight sensors, some Aggressor builds do well with it.

that's about it, though, for PTL + sensors. All the other ships that can take systems either don't have epts (damnit, punisher) or are too squishy to abuse PTL + sensor combos

Quickdraw has an unknown dial, and the comment of it being a slightly slower TIE/fo with a rear gunner makes everyone kinda worried its dial is going to be lacking in greens. If it has 3-4 greens and its all really odd moves, you do NOT want PTL on him unless youre trying to trigger his ability via baffles.

To be clear, I am looking at Quickdraw more like an arc dodger akin to Dengar with Push the Limit and Engine Upgrade, where the ability is more gravy when it's useful.

The point though that Quickdraw could be in real trouble when caught in arcs is heard, as I was not thinking about how detrimental the lack of the Evade action AND autothrusters is.

Thanks for the feedback all!
