What's Your Favorite Skirmish Mission?

By Felswrath, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Rather straight forward really.

Mine are:

1. Mind of it's Own IG-88 expansion pack A great mission that encourages clever maneuvering, has a lot of tension as the laser moves North, and prevents "tactical retreats".

2. Bomb Drop Dengar expansion pack There are grenades. 'Nuff Said!

3. Raiding Party Luke Skywalker expansion pack It's fun having neutral figures and a way to get points without having to take down the big guys.

In general, I prefer locations from the original trilogy.

Therefore, I like the Mos Eisley Cantina much more then the Stormtrooper's Training Ground or the Nelvaanian Warzone.

I really like the Tython Meditation Field. Especially The Chosen of the Force strongly favours expensive unique figures. This would have been a great map for the tournament rotation, because it favours a more diverse meta.

For the same reason I like the Ord Mantell Junkyard. Especially Most Dangerous Game strongly favours expensive unique figures.

Edit: I also like Agent Blaise's map.

By the way: I really don't like the Stormtrooper's Training Ground and the Nelvaanian Warzone.

The door on Stormtrooper's Training Ground makes the game rather unpredictable. And I've seen quite often, that an imperial Troopers list decided these missions within two activations: 1. Officer moves one Stormtrooper towards the door. 2. Stormtroopers destroy the door, the one moved by the Officer going last and throwing a grenade in after Shooting and killing the door. A 3 on that red dice and it's game over. This is silly. A strategy game shouldn't be like that.

Deception Game is rather boring. It's just a shoot out. The Mission rules don't have any influence on how I build my list or on how I play.

Reprogrammed is a race for the middle remote token. If the opponent has Imperial Officers and you don't, that race cannot be won. It favours the Empire too much.

On Nelvaania, there are doors, that aren't locked, but have health and therefore can be shot. The map uses a lot of the Hoth tiles, and Nelvaania isn't Hoth. The missions are more about, when to open the doors, then about actual tactics.

I like Deception Game a lot for competitive play as there's lots of bluffing options, but it's balanced.

Really?

I think it's the most boring mission because it's literally nothing more than "kill each other".

The bluffing aspect makes little difference. I'm still going to kill the same high threat targets or exposed support units regardless of what tokens they might be holding.

The mission rules have less of an effect than Drinks and Dealings in my opinion.

The stormtrooper map is kind of cool because the single door introduces and interesting dynamic and a tough decision, but the missions on that map are kind of boring.

I like Nelvaania Warzone because it's interesting with all the doors and difficult terrain. But the rules for the doors have to be fixed.

I like Constant Motion a lot but Fallout not so much.

I dislike Cantina because the deployment zones are very uneven, and because Drinks and Dealings is boring. Battlefield Engineering is ok.

Other than that, I really haven't played many other missions. I like ones with interesting objectives and not just boring kill each other missions.

The Bantha one with the Dianoga sounds awesome.

I actually liked Kuat too.
