Dengar/manaroo

By blairbunke, in X-Wing

I was wondering if using salvaged astromech for manaroo extend her life? Or maybe anti-pursuit lasers and/or dead mans switch? If she is gonna die anyway?

Gotta try play with it one day..

catachanninja Which channel would that be??

I have a Dengar/Manaroo list that I've had good success with. I feel like my losses have been from flying poorly rather than getting outclassed. I used some crit cancelling shenanigans in mine:

Dengar

Determination

Salvaged Astromech

Plasma Torps

Extra Muni's

Tactician

Glitterstim

Title

Guidance Chips

Manaroo

Deadeye

Advanced Proton Torp

Proton Torp

R4 Agro

Boba Fett

Glitterstim

Guidance Chips

It has enough tricks to hang against a lot of lists. I did decently at a regional if you wanna read about it but I'd love to get more practice in. It's great to see others come up with similar lists as you. Though, I suppose my list would fly a lot differently that the now established "Dengaroo"

1. The list is definitely called dengaroo. There's 2 variants flown by the rook squad.

Version 1. Has r5p8 on dengar and recon on manaroo. It absolutely eats other ships for breakfast. This was the one that took 2nd at MI Regionals, won the Ohio regional and 2nd at nationals. It also had a great showing at nationals and Ohio Regionals by other rook squad players like Eric B and Ben F.

The second version has over clocked agro mech on dengar and Gonk on manaroo. This one like was previously stated has infinite glitterstim for dengar.

I'm sorry, but the internet has already decided this list will be called Love Boats. If you're calling it Dengaroo, then you're on the wrong side of history.

Thx for the links :-)

Definitely gonna be called Dengaroo on Mynock Podcast :D

waifuboats or i riot

As much as 'waifuboats' entertains me, you do realize threatening Mynock with riots is like offering ice cream to children...

...bad for their long-term health.

The problem I see with this is that Gunner and Dengar's ability really clash, as you can't gunner and then use his ability, also R4-B11 you need a target lock for, and while it is an alright use for replacing dengar, it isn't as defensive as say Overclocked R4.

I call my list Fancy Seats!

I'm sure it deals well with aces, but i'm baffled as to how it's supposed to beat triple Jumps. Maybe it just hopes to avoid the matchup.

He can pop Countermeasures to push up to three agility dice, backed by a Lone Wolf reroll and either Glitterstims or double Focuses from Manaroo. Plus, his own attacks are extra deadly thanks to the use of Zuckuss. He can take as many stress tokens as needed, since Manaroo's the one who will be passing him all of his actions.

I faced this list with 4 Gama Squadron Bombers at Nationals and beat it. The key in my match was getting all 4 Bombers on Dengar for two rounds of shooting. Managed to get all 4 bombers focused on him. Dengar tossed counter measures and lone wolf. I got off a set of tracers, took dengar down to hull in that round of shooting. He didn't kill a bomber with his double tap, and that bomber than blocked the next round of shooting. Next round the bombers got target locks, and one had range on Manaroo and Dengar at the same time, so target locked Manaroo, forcing him to make a choice on whether to give off the focus tokens from Manaroo to Dengar or not, he did and had to take that target lock with him. Dengar went down that round of shooting, and then it was 2 bombers on Manaroo. I eventually tracked Manaroo down with a bomber and finished her off.

If you can get concentrated fire on one or the other (In my case I really was hoping to get Dengar which worked out) then they aren't bad. It is a good list, but it is by no means unbeatable. After that initial engagement where Glitterstim and Countermeasures are fired off and Manaroo giving recon spec items to Dengar. If you can do damage in that round you can clean up on them after that. Just try and make sure if you do Target lock Manaroo, that you also have Dengar in range otherwise it is a long day.

Is there a recorded game that shows this list beating triple uboats? I'm just curious because it seems like such an uphill battle, despite all the shenanigans. It's essentially 18hp/2attacks+gimmicks vs 27hp/3attacks. And even with buffs dengar/manaroo will get hit by torps or R1 PWTs (esp with deadeye combo), so the uboat player will get damage through either way.

I know that's simplistic, but this list does have to make up a 9hp behind 2agi difference while having LESS alpha strike than the uboats. I'd like to see it to be honest.

To be fair, EVERY match except Crack Swarm is an uphill battle against Triple JM5K torp boats. :P

Unless you run 4 Gamma Squadron Bombers... which can out ordinance the JM5K torp boats. I have made many a JM5K player afraid after taking one of their U boats off in the first round of shooting before it even got to fire.

We get it you took bombers to nationals and was able to go atleast 3-2 to make the second day. Congrats good for you. Now please go and win something with them before you post on every topic about your bombers.

Sigh... I don't post every topic about the bombers. And it was 4 - 1. I shall now go work on the next thing that nobody expects to do anything.

I just witnessed it at the Toronto Regionals (the final was almost a mirror match...yuck). It boggled my mind. The mechanics make less sense than triple toilet seats!

Clearly engaging Dengar makes no sense whatsoever. Manaroo is the clear linchpin. Yeah, Dengar will come up from behind and rap3 your a$$, but it beats trying to take him out. Once people figure this out, it will disappear much like the triple toilet seats did (2 lists in a field of 80 and none made top 16 in Toronto).

Personally, I prefer to call them "Asientos del Inodoro de la Muerte".

That is easier said then done but yeah there are certainly weakness in the list but it flies differently then almost everything else. That can be jarring especially after a long tournament.

I flew Dengaroo for the first time to help a squad mate get ready for a regional, and I gotta say, if the dice go cold and you're barely within range 2, twin lothals hurt a lot. Their FCS overloaded the lone wolf the next turn too.

That was the R5P8 version though, overclocked sounds like it'd fit my style more. Macaroon still survived for a bit though.

I'd still like to try it after some practice, that wasy first time really flying jumpmasters.

I've taken to calling my Dengar/Mana list.... "Marriage Counseling".
