Dengar/manaroo

By blairbunke, in X-Wing

Got second at us nationals and has done well in a few regionals, also been seeing it a lot on vassal what's everyone's thoughts on the list?

the list should get a room

Might help to link the list or list the actual list.

Rook squad seems to be flying them to great affect in the states. A variation made it to top 8 in Spain's system open.

I'm sure it deals well with aces, but i'm baffled as to how it's supposed to beat triple Jumps. Maybe it just hopes to avoid the matchup.

I haven't lost to triple jumps yet in a tournament with Dengar/Manaroo. Beating DarthDane with triple-jumps on Vassal though, ugh, he flies them too well.

It's a scary list to face, but so far I haven't lost to it.

He can pop Countermeasures to push up to three agility dice, backed by a Lone Wolf reroll and either Glitterstims or double Focuses from Manaroo. Plus, his own attacks are extra deadly thanks to the use of Zuckuss. He can take as many stress tokens as needed, since Manaroo's the one who will be passing him all of his actions.

Dengar/Manaroo won an amateur open in Barcelona ( Spain ) with about 96 people and the same guy did top 8 at the Italian System Open Series.

Rook Squad features Jeff B, who is sort of known for making weird zany lists and performing surprisingly well with them.

I'm not half the player the high profile users of this list are, but it seems to me that Manaroo is the key. Dengar is the front line and is set up to dodge and tank and dish out damage, while Manaroo feeds him. Manaroo goes down, though, and Dengar is in pretty bad shape. The right strategy for avoiding damage from Dengar while chasing a boosting Manaroo, however, seems hard for most lists.

Pretty much. I've played against the list, and when dengar has 11 stress stacked on him and manaroo dies, he's now stuck with no actions and no modifieres for attack or defense (outside of zuckuss on attack).

if its not called W-Boat someone dropped the ball and is undeserving of victories.

Yeah, between PTL, Boost, Barrel Roll and double Focus tokens, taking down Manaroo is easier said than done.

Zuckuss, Lone Wolf, Glitterstim, and Counter-measures (assuming the full effort has been on Manaroo up until then). He's not exactly helpless. :)

This list has to be called Dengaroo, right?

When I've run against it glitterstim and countermeasures have been gone by the time manaroo died. Lone wolf is something at least, but not a huge modifier. Zuckuss is bigger if you roll hits in the first place.

You win. This hsould definitely be the name of the list.

So the list is this...

Dengar (Lone Wolf, Zuckuss, R5-P8, Glitterstim, Countermeasures, Punishing One title)

Manaroo (PTL, Recon Specialist, Unhinged Astromech, Feedback Array, Engine Upgrade)

99 points

... right?

It is very interesting. Tears up crack swarms.

Seems to be the way to beat it is to trade for Dengar and have something worth more than Manaroo left on the board. 2 dice attack manaroo has trouble in the end game.

Tell that to Jeff Berling.

Why not just ignore Dengar. And go for manaroo.

If you have high PS her boost and barrel roll will likely not escape

Once she's out of the pictures Dengar will have a lot less options

It is an option that would work against someone not that skilled with the list.

Pretty much. It can vary though. I've seen versions with Gonk on Manaroo do well. Also, I think R5-P8 is much much worse than Overclocked R4. With Overclocked R4, as long as Manaroo is around, Dengar gets unlimited glitterstim.

The idea of the list is to keep Manaroo out of the battle, force the opponent to go for Dengar who, with his insane amount of mods, can tank a tooooon of stuff, and wreck face.
