Critical Damage and repairs

By Torg, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Hi all,

When you receive a face up damage card and its crew then later on spend the 3 repair points to discard it, does the secondary effect of the card also gets repaired, I.e. do I get back a defence token if it was Injured Crew - Crew - Choose and discard 1 of your defense tokens. Then flip this facedown.

No. You do not fix anything that happens.

IN the case of Injured Crew.

You take the Critical, drawing a Face up card. That Face up card tells you to immediately Discard 1 of your defence tokens... Then that Card is Flipped Face Down.

You no longer have a Face Up Card. Its a Face Down Card.

3 Points will remove a face up or face down card when you run an Engineering command... But only the continuing effects of that critical card is removed.

For example, if instead, you had "Blinded Gunners - You cannot spend 'ACC' results" - Then while the card is face up, you can't do it... Discard it, and you can again.

But you never recover anything from those instant effect criticals. They're instant. Done.

Your Crew has been Injured, reducing your capacity to retain further damage... You're able to patch the bit of the hull that caused the decompression (remove the damage card), but the long lasting effect of having a bunch of your crew dead/injured/incapacitated (the lost defence token) is permament...

Unless, of course, you have some other in-game way of replacing it.

Thanks for clarifying that one for me

Extension on that question: If the faceup card has a permanent effect, will I get rid of the effect if I discard that card?

If the damage is a ship card like Ruptured Engine then you can spend 3 engineering points to discard it (repair it), so you can go faster then 1 without damaging the ship more unless you get another ruptured engine.

If you are playing the Precision Strike scenario then repairing the (currently face down) Injured crew card can at least stop it being flipped back up again and removing another of your defence tokens.
