There's been no official announcement from anyone - not FFG, nor Lion Rampant.

If I remember right, there'll not be a National in Canada this year, at least not for X-wing, due to the horrible turnout last year. I wasn't aware that X-wing existed at that point, so I'm going by what I heard.

It was not mentioned at all in the article that announced the US Nationals and North American championships (see here).

It wouldn't surprise my if Lion Rampant kills the National this year. Support a game badly, and blame the game when the numbers are low.

Hopefully it happens. X-Wing has a great following north of the border and it'd be a shame to lose an event of that stature - even if it's somewhere I can't reach or play at.

How low were the numbers? I heard that the Toronto Regionals this Saturday is sold out at 88 players.

I wasn't there for the Nationals last summer. From what I've heard, keep in mind second/third hand info here, less than half that of the regionals. I think the combination of tournament charge (pricey but wouldn't complain) and FanExpo (hate those guys and way too much money) killed it for a lot of people.

No doubt. Did Lion Rampart think that people would pay that much to play in a tournament? I remember seeing a video of a Q&A with FFG at some con when someone brought up how Lion Rampart is (mis)handling the Nationals and FFG knew it and looking into it. I wonder if anything came of that.
