Episode 8 Rumors

By Icosiel, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Spoiler!!!

Better than the "Rey you are my father" rumour

For all his faults, Lucas knew how to sustain a mystery. Filoni also does a great job of it. They understand that every time you define something you make the galaxy a smaller place. If the rumour is true, the latest group doesn't get it.

Meeeeeh!

Sigh

I'll let Noel Harrison express my reaction to yet another is it a spoiler or is it not:

Well, the magic tree is something I like, because it hits one of my spiritual buttons, but hopefully they make sure to emphasize that The Force didn't start with this event, The Jedi did, and even then that it's hopefully not a literal vision of the past but a figurative one.

Otherwise...the Sequel Trilogy may end up being my least favorite.

Well, if nothing else, it does seem to dovetail with one of the plot elements of the Shattered Empire mini-series

A piece of which was given to Shara Bey and Kes Dameron, who planted it at their new home on Yavin 4, where they raised their son, Poe....

I'd much prefer the explanation from Luke is "after 20 years of searching Rey the truth is our destiny is the search, not the answer." or some other nebulous philosophical BS like that.

There is no emotion, there is groot.

There is no ignorance, is groot.

There is no passion, I groot.

There is no chaos, Groot

I am groot.

Is groot the missing entwife?

Is he a total birtch?

Is my entire post a larch? Or am I just trying to spruce up the conversation?

I mulled over reading it. Then I did. Here's my thoughts.

For one it doesn't sound like something congruent at all with the current canon on the force (the last few episodes of the clone wars series had yoda go to the planet where the force eminates from, the planet where midichlorians are created, potentially the planet that all life in the star wars galaxy originated from).

Looks to be a rewrite of the origins of the jedi & possibly sith as well that seems to be pretty poorly thought up.

We all already know the Force can be used for good or evil, there is pretty much no point in that line being there for the audience.

The same girl returning again? I thought Star Wars didn't ever have any sort of reincarnation stuff in it except cloning, which was done by science.

So Luke claims of some secret search the Jedi Order had been doing that was never mentioned before in anything (because of course, nobody thought up this idea til now).

The Jedi weren't deceived by Anakin other than that he had a secret marriage and fathered children. All of them were skeptic of Anakin even being the Chosen One. The only one who truly believed it was Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan believed it because his dying masters last words were so convincing it would dishonor his memory not to at least consider it.

Palpatine was the reason they were deceived and he was the result of the Clone Wars.

So Rey is supposed to go train but misses her first day of school because why? Is this gonna be another question that seems really dang important that the characters refuse to answer like Maz Kanata in TFA?

Here's another thing though. According to "The Maker", George Lucas, Anakin was: 1. The Chosen One. 2. The one that brought balance to the Force through the destruction of the Sith.

While Star Wars isn't in his hands anymore, I doubt strongly that anyone would reverse his decisions on the story (other than you know, himself since he's famous for changing stuff in special editions after the fact).
