Storage/Transport for Cards Tokens & Gauges

OK...I ordered the Broken Token case last night. It's just too good looking. I hope to get it before game night. :)

@heychadwick. Where in NC? I'm Triangle/Raleigh.
.

I was in Raleigh area for most of my adult life, but I took a job in Charlotte. I miss the RTP area immensely. Probably the biggest difference is the bumper stickers. I get the nerd and tech ones in RTP, but I don't get the fishing or NASCAR ones in Charlotte.

I do go back to Cary often enough as my wife is one of few people born and raised in Cary....back when it had one stop light.

I have a Plano tackle case/box, the popular one it seems that carries 4 trays and has an upper storage area as well, it fits about 80% of my xwing, but as my collection expands its starting to get out of control and a second one will be needed. I originally bought a double stack Plano tray that I still use for ship storage, but it gave me two extra standard plano tray's.

I use the two extra trays that came with the plano case, one for all the upgrade cards, which fit fine without sleeves but sleeved they need to be kept on their side which is a bit annoying. I keep another for dials and tokens, sorted by ship class. It's a bit messy and I would like to find a better solution without moving to binders/sleeves but I don't know if that's going to be viable in the long run. I bought a third extra tackle case from the dollar store thats about the same size as plano and about the same density too (but for a fraction of the cost) and that third case has become my night out case. I'll prebuild a couple of squads and throw them in the case with all the standard accessories and then it goes with me. For the tokens, what I need goes in one of the store-championship dice bags and I'm on my way.

For main token storage I grabbed (from the dollar store again) a smaller bolt/nut/screw sorting box which is full to the brim of all of our favorites and the specialty tokens. It sits in the top of the plano.

For pilot cards I got 4 deck boxes. 2 for rebel, 1 for scum, 1 for imperials. This is because the majority of my collection is rebel. The imperial one is starting to fill up though. They are sorted from most used to least used ships and pilots by pilot skill. All are sleeved, so its a matter of just flipping through till I find what I want, which is actually pretty quick, but after a while ends up being a jumbled mess requiring a resort.

Just be careful putting it together. It's sturdy but some of the joints are a very tight fit so I could easily see somebody using a bit too much force and breaking a connector. Get out a hammer or rubber mallet and lightly tap the pieces into place if you're having trouble getting them together. And lastly, pay close attention to which panels you're using. Some of the different panels look very similar but the connecting pieces won't line up just right. Don't try to put one where it doesn't actually fit.

Thanks for the advice!

@KMitchell. What case is that tournament case?

I hit Michael's today and got a small bead organizer box that seems to have sorted the tokens issue and a larger box with moveable divider slots that sorted the upgrades by type and has my small ship base overlays. That only covers half my issue though as pilot cards and large ship base overlays plus range/move rulers, dials, and misc stuff (asteroids, bomb tokens, all the extraneous mission doodads) still need a solution.

That's the Plano 5321 - just do a Google image search for "Plano XWing" and it will fill the majority of hits. :)
