League Ideas! Fantasy and Veteran League

By IceQube MkII, in Star Wars: Armada

There's been a lot of competitive talk (understandably due to the Regionals, etc)... unfortunately, I only get time to play during the competitive season...

In all league games, Objective is RANDOM! Perhaps, 2nd players get to mulligan for a 2nd random objective?

Fantasy League:

Say 6 teams (you can have 8 when Wave 3) hits...

2 Round draft (one Admiral, one Title, one Officer)... snaking draft style. Once a unique is taken, it's off the board.

Veteran League:

Admiral - if you win, then he can't be used the next match. Hey, he/she was busy fighting elsewhere.

This will help handicap the winner from becoming too strong.

Titles/Uniques - you must use a generic officer or ship first... if it survives/kills something, then you can upgrade to a veteran (e.g., title/unique). If a title/unique gets killed, then you lose it!

Playoffs:

2-3 Games... no more upgrading to "veteran" status. Maybe 150pt/player (2v2) madness?

Just spitballing ideas for more enjoyment of the game!

oooooh, i like the veteran league idea. how many gladiators will people run in the hopes of upgrading one to demolisher, and how many people will kill every gladiator before them to prevent a Demolisher from being born? :)

I like the idea of the Veterans league. Earn those upgrades. And forcing folks to use different Admirals is pretty cool.

Maybe make them a one use item? Makes you run through your side's Admirals. You'd have to plan ahead with some of the more common ones and hope you've got the right upgrades available.

Not sure how to implement it but I always thought it would be awesome to do a map based campaign with armada where the individual territories are specific objectives. So both players will know they will be playing a single objective and to plan accordingly.

For our 500+ games and occasional other games we play 2nd player draws two objectives randomly and has to choose between them. This forces more take all comers list building and/or some interesting challenges.
