Can you explain why having more figures wouldn't be as beneficial as having this?

More figures isn't always the same as better.

Usually, more figures are cheaper individually, and therefore often weaker.

Swapping out weak regular troopers for fewer but stronger elite saboteurs, Gideon and R2 would be a way of improving the squads strength.

A lot of those guys would get one-shoted, and if you wind up facing someone that can do some blast damage (like Elite Saboteurs) you could really feel some pain.

But troopers lists with the right command cards can still be pretty strong, and they're great at spreading out to reach terminals and objectives.

Also, the regular Troopers just arent as good as regular Saboteurs, let alone the elite version. IMO

So if you wanted "more figures"...you could go:

rRebel Saboteurs x4

(Or get rid of 1 Sab group and add in Gideon + couple of skirmish cards)

I'm thinking of making this my main Rebel Squad, but replacing one of the elite troopers with Leia, and possibly R2-D2 with Mak or leave R2-D2 in and put on a diplomatic mission on Leia or Gideon.

Would that be an improvement to the list you posted?
