Death of the Earth wing?

By Stelar 7, in X-Wing

Ok,

I've been gone a long time. I just bought my first T70 because if I'm getting back into the game I'm gonna need several. Aaaaanndddd wow! I like this ship but the ace is 30 points. So, more hull than an E. The 3 turn flip thing, a new kind of slot. Have these ships sent the poor Ewing to the dustbin?

Edit, bad phone, Ewing not earth wing. That sounds like a bird based recycling program.

... m8 what???

Yes, the E-wing hardly sees table time, but we didn't need the T-70 to tell us that. However, I still haven't found a good Triple T-70 squad. I feel bad saying this, but they're still too squishy (for my play style, I suppose).

Ewings cost a lot more than t70 xwings. So do people still use the E, or are they dead?

I saw someone flying that weirdo that modifies all friendly shooting. Etan or something like that. Outside of that, I've never flown against one.

Side note: that cannon over the canopy is stupid. The canopy won't open with it like that. Just plain goofy.

Corran still sees play. He is still strong. Maybe not as much as he used to.

Did we ever get whistler? Seems wrong to have Corran without him.

No, we didn't ever get Whistler. We might someday, though, especially if there's a "Rebel Veterans" pack that includes an E-Wing or Corran Horn in a different ship.

E-Wings are currently way too overpriced for what they do, except Corran with R2-D2. Corran still gets played competitively, but none of the other E-Wings do. Etahn A'baht can be fun in Epic flown alongside a swarm of Z-95s though, for making tons of crits.

Yeah, the E-Wing was basically DOA, except for Corran. That's part of the problem, in fact. The E-Wing is basically 4 points over costed, EXCEPT FOR CORRAN. Adding 4 points of power for Knave Squadron, without adding more than 1 point to Corran is... tricky.

The problem is, even corran is 4 points or so overcosted... except that Shield regen is undercosted for 3 agility ships. Since Corran can throw "Arcdodging ace" onto his resume with the right cards, Corran is still overpriced... but his power and survivability give him a place in the game anyway.

I hate to say it, but I think that you'll have to wait until HOTR hits the shelves.

Blue ace is cool, but at the same time wonky, and really lacks a decent astro (and an EPT, he screams take PTL on me!)

Red ace.... I actually really like Red ace. Throw R2-D2 on her and enjoy a free evade token every round! Throw on that tech upgrade from the F/O blister for maximum effectiveness! although a bit pricey at 36 points, but works out okay for 3 T-70's. She basically gets ignored because she's deemed "unkillable" by the enemy most times. (save the swarm, she hates the swarm.)

Ello asty.... white Talon rolls are nice, but i'm still playing with how to kit this guy out. Do I throw in VI, or do I take torps, do I take PTL? Auto thrusters or IA? I feel like he's the rebel version of the Defender (or as close as we can get to one, save corran and his double tap ability.).

Poe.... is Poe. we know how to maximize him basically. The problem is that he takes up almost 40 points, meaning someone isn't getting their needed upgrade, or your reducing down to a generic. (no the T-70 doesn't need any fixing, I don't think it's overcosted, I just think it needs some cheaper aces, which HOTR is going to do anyway).

Now and forever, **** Corran Horn.

Seriously. I feel about Corran the way ParaGoomba Slayer feels about... well, about half the things added to the game since Wave 2.

Why Corran specifically? Was it the PS 8 or the double tap?

I just clicked because I wanted to know what "Earthwing" is.

I love my triple 7s list which has 2a's and etahn. Lots of fun to fly and not as squishy as it seems

The pure cowardice that is his play style (at least for me). His double tap allows him to run away without losing any damage. And then he also gets to regen shields while clearing his PTL stress. Its just too infuriating.

When I hear of Earth wing this is what comes to mind.

"Death of the Earth Wing" sounds like an excellent Hair Metal album title.

In a game so dominated by Imperial ace lists, I think rebels need more Corran Horn style middle fingers to throw around.

korran kHorne is a monster, but he got heavily hit by UUU lists

Etahn Abaht is a Monster in Epic

Is it weird that I first read the title as E-Wing

Could always try a title, system or mech that rewards and encourages white or red moves.

E-Wing Targeting System (System, 0 points)

E-Wing only

Whenever you perform a white maneuver, you may acquire a target lock.

Would certainly be playable on Horn, but is completely anti-synergistic with both R2-D2 and Horn's ability (since he wouldn't be able to take FCS).

Actually it seams Korren is doing pretty good against UUU in Wes/Biggs lists at the moment.

for the sake of comparison, yes the t-70 is in general far superior to the E. It's still overcosted for what it does, but FAR less so than the E

thing is, Corran can abuse a combination of PTL, sensors and r2-d2 to become morbidly expensive but more powerful than plain ol Veteran Instincts auto-thruster regenerating Poe. You pay for it, but you get something out of it (unlike the rest of the Es)

last world's actually had both Corran and Poe regenerating in the same squad, and they were carried all the way to 2nd place on the back of the mighty prototype pilot

E wings are in need of a buff in the same way as the Tie Phantom.

The top ships are awesomesauce and the generics are not.

But any fix of the generic will potentially supercharge the Whispers and Horns of repute.

Then the Internet will explode in tears of nerd rage, and the incessant whining from t-65 lovers will cause the universe to implode.

Just back away slowly from the subject.
