How come no cards for monster actions?

By heptat, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

So there are lots of cards for actions, but for the monster specific actions we get these printed onto a page in the ToA instead of actual cards. I would have much preferred cards for these, and there's not that many monsters/actions so it wouldn't have added too many more cards.

So obviously at some point FFG will release a bestiary - do you think we will we get cards then? Or will they stick with this printed actions on a page (which isn't very convenient)?

A beastiary is probably one of the first things we will see, an empire source kit will most likely be pretty high on the list along with a bretonia, chaos and magic.

It's not too bad if you're willing to copy that page for reference, but yeah, it would be nice to have actual cards down the line.

I actually like that there are no monster cards - it keeps it all in one place, theres no need for that information to be modular unlike the other cards.

I assume that FFG will bring the cards for monster actions in the Bestiary. Imho, It's very important to have special capacities for "monsters"like Giants, Ogres, Shaggoths, Demons, Chaos Warriors, etc...

I was thinking that there would be cards in the beastry also, and was also wondering if Dark magic and Nercromancy would be in there on the magic supplement, as it could be in both. (Im expecting god specific chaos magic in the chaos supplement regardless of where other lores are put)

I too am hoping for NO cards but instead, Monster sheets. I know that they won't got this route, but that's my hope.

I would rather have a sheet that I can lay flat on the table, whether the two part spread or just the stats and faux cards. That would be so much better in the long run than sorting through a plethora of cards. The GM's plate is already much more full than the players anyway.

Sorting = bad. Not being able to find one card (due to the chaos theory) that holds up your capacity to run the fight = very bad. Forgetting to include a cool card during a battle just cause you didn't know if was part of the 'set' = bad.

I think sheets would be a great edition, but not sure they will be cost effective, as to include powers plus stats you would be looking at A4 and they would have to be card to stop them being destroyed, now a monster sheet like a character sheet that we could prepare before the game that would be great!! with the stats either in book form or card form, preferabley book so they dont get lost, this would not only solve the problem of losing cards or having to keep turning pages in a book. Does mean the gm has to do more prep but i always spare two hours before a game to get that done, and i dont think im alone in that.

I think single monster sheets could be much smaller than A4, even with 4 powers included - probably double the size of career sheets or just a tad bigger than that. The power "cards" can be made more compact, and you only need them and the monster stats on one side of the sheet. It's not as space-effective as an A4 page listing three monsters instead of just one, but certainly also not as unwieldy.

Two reasons, IMO:

1. Cards are more expensive that paper. FFG is trying to keep the costs down, honest.

2. Having to sort through a mess load of monster cards to find the 2-3 cards specific to that monster.

Personally, I like having the cards on the beastiary page. I can just photocopy the page if needed, and lay it in front of me along with adding recharge tokens onto the same page, as well as keeping track of A/C/E and wounds all on the same piece of paper.

I would like to see the bestiary printed on cardstock and spiral bound. I could keep everything together and lay it flat on the table for ease of play.
