30 point furball

By namdoolb, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So, a shop near me is doing some fun events tomorrow for the father's day shenanigans.

One of the things they are going to be doing is a 30 point furball with many players.

There's going to be some kind of capture the flag element to this one - we're supposed to grab some kind of beacon from the middle of the table and bring it back to our deployment area.

We're also limited to 30 points, small base ship only, and we can only use one upgrade card.

(which cuts out pretty much all the popular ace builds and makes me a little unsure what to bring to the table on this one.)

I think I'm pretty settled on 4-lom. He's a reasonably tough ship, with a decent pilot skill for the 30 point limit, and he might get overlooked in the early stages of the game. (plus I quite like the idea of passing my stress off to other people and mucking up their maneuvers.)

The big decision I think is what upgrade card to round out the 30 points with - and I'm kinda torn between push the limit & advanced sensors.

Either one of those could be better than the other depending on how many red maneuvers I have to pull over the course of the game & I'm having real trouble choosing.

Does anyone have any advice which one of these they think would be better? Or different ship(s)/cards(s) that maybe I should be running?

If it's rebel I can most likely run it (unless it comes from the original core set or one of the epic ships), if it's scum I can probably run it. If it's imperial I won't own the ship or the card to make it work.

I have used this to great success, in furballs.

30 points Pilots ------ Kavil (30) Y-Wing (24), Twin Laser Turret (6), Adaptability (0)

I'm not too sure on the capture the flag part, but Soontir Fel with Push The Limit at 30 pts will hammer just about anything out there.

I'd personally go with a blue squad B-wing with HLC. A big, durable hitter that no one wants to engage is a great deterrent against people attacking you.

Talonbane with Lone Wolf. I know you want it :D .

Only on ship with only one upgrade? That's really tough. The obvious is a 28 point ace with 3 agility and Lone Wolf but I'm not sure who.

Or a /x7 Defender.

OL with Stealth Device is 29 points, with shield upgrade 30 :D

OL with Stealth Device uses three upgrade cards. Juke and Comm might as well come glued directly to him, but they are technically separate ;) not to mention that in a furball he will be jumped on from a great height by everyone.

I like it but we have to drop Adaptability to limit it to a single upgrade. I would also replace TLT with Ion. In any sort of capture the flag scenario being able to shoot out of arc and force your opponents to go 1 straight should help you. Plus in the furball you will need as many hit points as you can get.

My initial thought was Luke w/ BB8 but you said no red box and I think I like Red Sq. Vet with R2D2. Regen, and boost should also be pretty good.

Double-check to see if Lone Wolf is allowed. Some Furballs ban LW because it's such an obvious choice.

Ok, Miranda Don with lightning reflexes, more of a "fun" build, but you slam away until the flag Is your's, heal up, and lightning reflex back to face the deployment area and slam back.

Miranda is great, but she has absolutely no way to access an EPT slot, so lightning reflexes can't be used. A warden squadron pilot with TLT could work though.

Woops, I totally overlooked that... thanks, the only problem is turning around to go back to the beginning.
