Actually there is one other card that could do it. Vector thrusters or whatever. That could give the evade. I doubt it, but you never know.
Retract that statement. Reread.

I really would have liked to try my 5Ks out against Contracted Scouts and the Crackswarm at Yavin, sadly never got the chance.
Only losses came against Omega Leader and the damned Inquisitor. I clearly need to get better at taking those bad boys out.
you thinking of replacing one with a PS 1 fang?
blocking aces is sorta difficult, depending on the player, but if you're rolling up against other jousters (Especially fat ass scouts) a nippy little low PS bugger with boost could be just what the scummy doctor ordered
I haven't really considered it. I've played two ManglerScyks before with 3 K's to good results, but the 5K's real strength is in it's durability and damage output. 25 health spread over 5 targets, 3 red dice each... sometimes it surprises even me how long a Cartel Marauder on one health manages to keep hanging on in the game.
Generally speaking against 2-3 ship lists (i.e. Aces), even if the lead Marauder is focused on it survives with 1-2 health following the initial engagement, that ship then becomes the blocker while the others stagger their formation behind it. If I manage to block an Ace, it's usually facing 2-3 range one focused shots, before my formation scatters to all points of the compass afterwards.
When it works, it's amazing (deleting a fully loaded Darth Vader in one round of shooting), when it doesn't, it's painful (Inquistor surviving two focused range one attacks without a scratch), but it's usually a lot of fun either way. The trick is getting one of those aces down as quickly as possible.
Are we thinking that the generic Protectorate Starfighter pilot will be weighing in about 20 points with the title? That might well persuade me to give it a go. 20, 30 and 40 point loadouts are the sweet spot for my Scum lists.
