Decimator + Palpatine + Wampa +? Help with list building

By Goseki1, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So a Gozanti should (finally) be mine in the next few days in with that comes a fellow I've been after for a while: Wampa.

I want to run him in a list but really don't want to fly the shuttle. I love the Decimator so want to try a build with that.

Kenkirk with Palpatine and Ysanne Issard is my favourite core build for the Decimator at the moment. It can really last a long time and draw out the fight when he has 2 guaranteed evades a turn, so as a core start, I want to go with that.

As for the rest of it, I'm not sure what I want to do.

I could run:

Kenkirk - 44

Tactical jammer - 1

Predator - 3

Palpatine - 8

Ysanne Issard - 4

= 60

Wampa = 14

Omega Leader

Comm Relay

Juke

=26

This gives me an incredibly beefy tank who hits hard, that if left to the endgame will be a bugger to take down. With Omega Leader, who if left to endgame instead of the Decimator will be a bugger to take down. And Wampa, who I'd hope to hide behind the Tactical Jammer Decimator as much as possible (though accept with the PS differences and his nakedness this might be difficult).

Alternatively I could drop everything but the core I want on the Decimator and take some black cracks

Kenkirk - 44

Palpatine - 8

Ysanne Issard - 4

= 56

Wampa = 14

Black squadron - 14 x2

Crack Shot - 1 x2

= 30

Fire a total of 100.

I suppose this has more punch but given the low pilot skill the Blacks are quite likely to be taken out before they can shoot in many cases, particularly where I don't have initiative against U boats etc, and to be honest a Decimator vs U boars is likely to be taken down quickly regardless; but if they do live it has the advantage of more Dice plus crack shot and quite capable blockers to boot.

I suppose I should consider going with a generic Decimator + Palpatine to free up more points but I really want to make a build with Kenkirk work, so would really appreciate people's input. Cheers!

Still hoping to get feedback on this, though appreciate its a somewhat odd list. I'll let the thread die if there are no further posts XD

I like the tank Kenkirk build, although personally I wouldn't be confident in my ability to hide Wampa. I'm not an expert but I'd prefer a bigger threat like Whisper or Soontir as a wingman and drop the tactical jammer.

I'd upgrade to RAC, drop Predator and the mod, add EU. That +2-3-1+4=+2, so RAC sits at 62, leaves you 12 points for an academy pilot to block.

Cheers man. I do loke RAC a lot, especially with EU but every time I've flown him he gets melted really quick.

Whisper is also a god shout but I'm wanting to try something a bit broader and with a slightly more forgiving margin of error. The amount of times I've made one small mistake that has cost me Whisper and left me with just one ship...

You'll need to bump back down to a shuttle for Palp then, and add more ace.

You could try something like this. Soontir isn't super optimal like this, but you get the added threat of Wampa, and a DoomShuttle to threaten aces, and can keep Palp out of firing arcs. The problem with Palp on a deci, to me, is that you're paying a premium on the Deci for extra hull and turretty shooty goodness. Palp wants to live as long as possible to maximize his value with unkind mods, which means he wants to be *away* from battle, not in the middle of it.

For a starting setup, I'd place Vader behind palp, and palp behind aces (obviously parallel w/ the back board edge, aces perpendicular to the back edge). FIrst turn is green bumps to hold the shuttles back. Second turn is alternating green/red bumps and stalls, let the enemy come to you. Unleash the awesome magnitude of both shuttles when possible, but keep vader behind palp to fire at anything that comes after him to lay down some crit hate. Keep bumping palp with vader so vader can has arc without contact.

Use your two wingmates to clean up.

Now that I think about this, it might actually be really fun. I think I'm going to try it.

Did you mean to post a picture?

Huh?
