I feel like Lothal dies too fast, however it may be a better build to face three jumpmasters. What does everyone think?
Dash+Miranda or Dash+Lothal?
I've played Super dash and lothal once and I think its a good list. its also been top 8 a lot lately. i think it might come down to pilot skill. clearly the list is viable. depending on who gets initiative it could be good, the whole point is for lothal rebel to get right in the mix, block, and keep people off of Dash so that he can take over late game. just my opinion.
I have enjoyed and like the Dash Miranda pairing and have not really taken to the Ghost; as you comment it seems to fall too quickly, but I have limited plays with it and so may simply not have the hang of it yet.
16 Health but zero agilty means it will melt under concentrated fire but also that you can make a good estimate of how long it will survive. Unlike Aces who live or die on lucky dice rolls. You can be fairly confident how long your Ghost will last and can plan accordingly. It will take a typical tie swarm at least 2 turns to focus down a ghost. Similarly it will soak up several torpedo hits from U-boats before sinking.
Use that reliability to your advantage if you can. Use the Ghost as hammer and punish the enemy for getting close. Keep it at around Range 3 from Dash so he can use his HLC to hose bad guys off the Ghost's back.
Super Dash is normally 58 points. Lothal Rebel is 35 meaning you have 7 points to spare on upgrades. Not a lot for sure but it gives you options. Reinforced Deflectors or Sensor Jammer will use up half your spare points (and your system slot) but will make the Ghost a lot tougher vs ordnance or swarms respectively. Alternatively, put Chewie on there to negate a nasty crit and restore a shield.
I haven't played Dash + Miranda yet, but I have played the following:
Dash (PTL, HLC, Outrider, Kyle, Engine)
Lothal Rebel (FCS, Autoblaster Turret, Kanan)
100 points
A very solid and fun list.
IMO, Hera crew is an autoinclude on any VCX that isn't her own. Being able to pull that 5K or hard turns whenever you want is amazing. And pulling off a double 5K is both mean AND fun.
I have been running a version of Dash/Lothal lately and have had a lot of fun with it. I am not a great player but have been placing middle of the pack with it (at regionals etc). Sometimes the Lothal melts under concentrated fire, other times they gun for my tanky Dash and it starts throwing 4-5 red dice with a target lock and Han backing it up.
Dash:
Lone Wolf
RecSpec
Outrider
HLC
APL
Lothal:
Hera
Han
auto blaster turret
FCS
APL
I have been enjoying PTL/Kanan Dash with a Rebel packing Hera, Ezra, FCS. The Rebel is pretry maneuverable/punchy and can punish people trying to exploit Dash's donut hole. However, I have not faced any serious Imp Aces with it, and I would assume that would be a terrible matchup. I may swap Ezra for Han and a ABT to help.
Lando gives a little help in keeping the VCX alive a little longer if you're lucky. He's worked for me so far. Drawback is he takes an action.
It looks to me like (and this is pure theory because I haven't really played around much with either list) the lothal is going to be stronger against triple jumps, and and anything that might still be around running tlt's. Miranda looks stronger vs aces and swarm builds.
Lothal has a better damage output, and having more hitpoints makes it much more resilient to alpha strikes, but it needs to get close to do it's thing, which exposes it to a lot of fire without any real way to defend itself.
Miranda on the other hand is great for sniping at long range, dodging arcs at close range, and getting a decent amount of survivability with her regen.
Personally I think I prefer dash/lothal. If for no other reason than because I believe that it's better to have two ships with differing capabilities than to have two ships which do the same thing... More tactical flexibility and all that.
Ran a Dash Lothal combo last night and wiped the Imps off the table without losing a ship (although the Lothal was down to its last 3 hull points). Here is my list.
58 Dash Randar (36), Outrider (5), HLC (7), PTL (3), Kanan (3), EU (4)
42 Lothal Rebel (35), Hera (1), Han (2), ABT (2), FCS (2)
I used the Lothal pretty aggressively and had a decent stack of Stress tokens by the end of the game.
I threw the Lothal into the enemy very aggressively and tried to keep those big guns on target as much as possible. The ABT came in handy once or twice and I think makes a decent deterrent against Range 1 attacks on the flanks and rear for 2 points. Meanwhile Dash just cruised around the furball and plinked away with his HLC.
One thing I noticed though is that this list would be very vulnerable to higher PS ships. Although my opponent had 2 Phantoms, he went with the generic pilots rather than pushing for higher PS. Against the Fels, Whispers and Vaders of the world, I think that this list would struggle.
One option would be to replace PTL and Kanan with VI and Rec Spec. That would at least allow me to compete with PS9 Aces. Just a same it spoils the beautiful bromance between Dash and Kanan.
On the plus side, the points saved could allow you to upgrade Han to Erza which might be worth trying since the Ghost was never without stress after turn 3.
The other list I have been trialling which also works well is this one.
42 Lothal Rebel (35), Hera (1), Han (2), ABT (2), FCS (2), Ghost Title (0)
21 Ezra (20), Rage (1), Phantom Title (0)
37 Poe Dameron (31), VI (1), R5-P9 (3), Autothrusters (2)
Poe is PS10 giving some much needed protection against other high PS Aces as well as doing very aggressively. Adding the shuttle gives the Ghost its rear arc and potentially a second attack with the turret.
