Sign up for Season Two of the VASSAL X-Wing League, sponsored by the Scum and Villainy Podcast

By Earthworm, in X-Wing

We’ve just concluded Season 1, with 290 players in 32 divisions. Ready to join in?

ALL PLAYERS MUST SIGN UP- INCLUDING THOSE WHO PLAYED IN SEASON ONE

Further details on how to sign up are at our Reddit page .

What is this league all about?

This is a multi tiered league for playing X-wing over the VASSAL online client, and is open to players at every level from Paul Heaver (yes, he’s in it) to the newest beginners.

If you join, you’ll be in one of our Unknown Reaches divisions of 9 players from the same time zone. You’ll have just over two months to play each member of your division once. There is no set schedule- you can play your games whenever you and your opponent can find a time. This allows you to go on vacation or otherwise have a life during the season.

If you are one of the top players in your division, you advance to the Outer Rim divisions, where competition is a little tougher, for the next season. The top players from this division advance to the Inner Rim, and then Core Worlds divisions, while the bottom players are relegated back down to the Unknown Reaches divisions. The overall league is a pyramid, with a wide base of players at the bottom advancing upward towards a small number of seats at the top where the world’s best online X-wing players will be.

Prizes are available for division winners at all levels, including tokens and templates from the Scum and Villainy Podcast and our Prize Sponsor, Team Covenant !

Again, for more details on how to sign up, the structure and rules of the league, how to play on Vassal and more, go to our info page at our Reddit page .

Signups close June 30. Play will begin around the end of the first week in July and will continue through the first week in September.

Signed up, though I was only ever to get 3 of my matches in last season. Was never able to find the other half of my division online whenever I was in Vassal.

A. We've weeded out a lot of semi committed players

B. Most games are played by prior arrangement via Challonge messaging or on your reddit thread.

On the sign up, can use the wrong time zone to get grouped in England or something? I live in the central united states but my availability is mornings and afternoons...wich should be better for other players elsewhere.

That is exactly what you should do!

Cool. I hope I wasn't one of those weeded out. There was not a whole lot activity in our group on Challonge, unfortunately. Bothan probably posted a dozen times trying to find games.

That's a great idea. I initially put my real time zone at EST but since I can usually only play later I could change it to CST to improve the odds of getting my games. How do I change my answer if I've already signed up?

Signed

how do you know what divison to be in?

If you at least played some games and signed up for the new league you should be fine. Worst that happens is you get relegated down to the next tier (depending where you were) if other people got in more games and had more wins.

Would love to do it since I missed season one, but need more time yet to get back into the game. I've only played about a dozen games in the past 6 months due to the birth of my son. Just starting to get a feel for the latest wave.

Hopefully if there's a season three I can join up then.

I'm in.

Up to 128.

Last season we broke 300 signups. How far can we go this time (though not so far that we have to completely restructure the league...)

Signed up and interested to try it out!

I would encourage everyone who is either pressed for time or wants to get some games against people around the world to join this league. I have enjoyed it so far! Bring on the next season!

OK lets try this again, first season i missed joining in http://challonge.com/ as did not get any mail :/ When i logged in, was too late :(

Signed up, and looking forward to it.

Signed up! Yay, ladder climbing!

211 signed up.

Ten days to go.

I have never used Vassal, but am interested in learning, would that hinder me in signing up?

I need to learn as well. If you are available during the daytime or mornings CST. Hit me up and we can find a time to learn it.

Used vassal a bit. Signed up for my first vassal tournament. I expect to win the whole thing.

Who wants to buy me a computer so I can get into this "vassal" thing?! ;P
