Gold And Blues

By Zeodra, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Gold Squadron Pilot; BTL-A4, R3-A2, TLT. Blue Squadron Pilot; FCS. 2 x Blue Squadron Novice; Integrated Astromech, R2 Astromech.

What are everyone's thoughts about this build? Which builds would this list struggle against?

The b-wing feels a little out of place here... I get that you can't really fit a 3rd T-70 in because of the stressbot, but I don't think a b-wing is the answer.

It can't keep up with the x-wings, and I think you can do better than using it to escort the y-wing.

I might switch it out for a tlt gold squadron (no title, no astromech). Then the other group would be more cohesive and want to be doing the same thing.

The other option (which might well work) would be to run a couple of bandit squadron pilots. Those would pace the x-wings quite nicely and would give you a couple of good blockers.

The third option that occurs to me would be to take a green squadron a-wing. You could jam proton rockets on there and still have two points left over for a couple of nice pilot talents. Doesn't have the same long-term damage output as the others, but does give you a nice alpha strike.

Triple jumpmasters may be a problem for this list: Flat 2's across the board on pilot skill really limits your ability to interfere with the jumpmasters before they can fire ordnance, and as tough as your ships are, a couple of decent salvos will still eat enough of your squad that you will be hard pressed to make up the difference.

That will be the worst matchup I think. You may also suffer against tlt's depending on how fast the x-wings can close with them.

Most other things look fairly winnable (to me at least), depending on how you fly it.

Great response! I do like the A wing with prockets idea! I hate the jump masters builds. They suck to play against. I can't figure out a good build that can face them as well as other builds at the same time.
