hey guys,
just shedding a small tear for a series of forgotten upgrades (mostly crew now that I think about it) that could've been amazing, but are sadly so corner case (and old) by now that they'll probably just never see play ![]()
maybe the dream scenario will happen and ffg erratas these guys or maybe you'll use them in a custom league. I just feel the need to vent before I get too sad ![]()
1. Bombardier

always leery when you have to pay extra points to have an upgrade not be worthless. Bombadier without bombs does literally nothing, but you're still paying for it! You'd think they'd learn from Slave 1 ![]()
seems the only acceptable card of this type is extra munitions, wherein you NEED to pay for munitions to get any use out of the card but it actually gives you value in return
this perhaps makes me the most sad of any other upgrade, because I love bombs ![]()
wish it had:
1.) 0 point cost, though sabine probably means it'd still never see use in rebels
2.) in addition to the card text,
"When you equip this card, place 1 ordnance token on it. When you are instructed to discard a Bomb upgrade card, you may discard 1 ordnance token on this card instead."
2. Saboteur

this guy is a game design nightmare
costs points, eats your action, probably does nothing; can do jack **** EVEN when it does work. It's a labyrinthine nightmare of horrible RNG stacked on RNG, assuming you have any targets for it in the first place!
wish it had:
After executing a maneuver, choose 1 enemy ship you are touching and flip 1 random facedown Damage card assigned to that ship faceup. Resolve that card immediately.

okay, not nearly as bad as the other two and actually pretty interesting
just sad they didn't take inspiration from some of the more interesting scenes in the show
wish it was:
After executing a maneuver, you may choose 1 enemy ship you are touching and flip 1 upgrade card assigned to that ship face down.
If you do, at the beginning of the end phase, flip that same card face up. (for game balance purposes)

ACTION: choose 1 enemy ship at Range 1 that you are not touching. You may suffer one damage to assign a Weapons Disabled token to that ship and to yourself.
