2016 Nationals Results

By MajorJuggler, in X-Wing

Also, big shoutout to the Stay on Target guys for loaning me inserts for my ships. I really appreciate it guys!

To get a little back on track, I had a great time at the event. I finished 4-2 with my Wes, Biggs, and Corran list. Considering I hadn't played much xwing in the past year, I was super pleased with my results.

Wes, Biggs, Corran seems to be gaining steam as an anti-meta choice. Would be happy to see it more.

I can not for the life of me figure out why anyone would give alternate shield tokens a second thought. Either it's a joke that you don't get, or they're showing off and trying to get in your head. Either way, it makes no meaningful difference in any aspect of your life unless you let it. So don't let it.

So what happens when someone starts bringing My Little Pony figures and using them as Target Locks, setting a matching pair next to ships? As long as there is ample room on the board and its clear who is locking whom, then this shouldn't make a "meaningful difference" either. Yet, I imagine most people would s*$# bricks if someone tried this at a tournament.

So clearly it's not just an "anything goes" sort of attitude that we need, because I suspect most people would have a problem with the above and would prefer to not see it in the game.

If that happened I would not care equally as much as if they were using coins, or World Championship trophies, or cardboard shield tokens, or toenails. It's a marker of something in a fun game. The only thing it has to do is be discreet from other markers, so I'd probably call someone on using dust bunnies or drops of water.

Random sidenote, but i wanted to give a shoutout to all the Ohio and Michigan guys that were at US nationals, i played several across the two days, everyone was super friendly. Your representation of your back yard was awesome and i look forward to seeing you guys again.

Thanks, the atmosphere at nationals was awesome. Everyone I played was super friendly and all had good sportsmanship! Not sure if we played each other, but I had Dengar and Kavil.

Don't believe so, i was running imperial aholes, had a POP snowtrooper as my palp token.

Pretty sure I played you during last round of FFG Regional. Was a fun match. I was flying rudor/whisper/palpshuttle.

How are they outfitted? 'Cause I'm getting awfully tired of bringing Rebels and getting stomped by U-boats or Ace-holes. A little good chance against both would be appreciated.

I brought:

2x Corran (100)

Wes Janson (32) - X-Wing

Veteran Instincts (1), R3-A2 (2), Integrated Astromech (0)

Biggs Darklighter (26) - X-Wing

R4-D6 (1), Integrated Astromech (0)

Corran Horn (42) - E-Wing

Veteran Instincts (1), R2-D2 (4), Fire Control System (2)

Played triple jumpmasters once and won 33 to 26(Biggs). I played decimator/whisper too and lost 100 to 0, but that wasn't the list imo. Phillip was just a better player that game than me.

Phillip is extremely good and prolly one of the nicest players I've ever encountered. No shame in losing to him.

How important is Veteran Instincts on Corran? I would think that Draw Their Fire would keep Biggs alive longer and pair well with R2-D2.

It is kind of vital for the Aces matchup, you want to out PS Soontir and CO

Yup! Phillip was super nice and gave me some good flying tips while we were playing. I certainly did not feel bad losing to a talented player like him.

As for the epts, The PS 10 paid pretty big dividends for me a few times (and had I been a smarter Jow, might have killed Whisper and/or prevented her cloaking). I aced a Talonbane Cobra and an adaptability Chirpy in day 1 with it. Draw their fire would have helped a ton against Peter's triple aces and Gene's Tie/FO swarm though.

Overall I really enjoyed the list and would certainly play it again. It did well considering I just played it on a whim.

I brought Corran/Wes/Biggs at the Italian SoS and reached top 8 before losing to a triple jumpmaster list.

I think VI on Corran is vital for the double ps10 alpha strike, the chance to activate any of the two aces as it's most needed and for the pressure you put on imperials movements.

It might help against the triple jumps thought, but I'm not sure it's worth and I'm not even sold that it helps there either

So this is the results thread, but I don't see the top 32 and what lists they were running. Nothing up on list juggler either, as far as I can tell.

FFG was using tome which does not sync to list juggler or compile lists.

Here is the top 8 that I posted earlier a bit more cleaned up

You can't see his other hand, so to me this will always be Selfie Bossk. Trying to look cool for his new profile picture at the bounty hunters guild. Bossky Bossk, you so vain!

I entered the Bombing Bulldogs which finished 38th. Who says bombers suck!

I put in some palpaces

I added mine. Looks like quite a few have been added in so spread the word and we can get it finished.

I'm moving this week so it may take me a few extra days to get the Top 32 / etc updated on the front page, so in the meantime whatever info people have, feel free to post here and update the ListJuggler entry.

Mine isn't (Tim HIlton) but I do see that Dan T is over by 2 but I think its because all of his have 4-lom in that list.

X-wing round 1 at GenCon has kicked off! Feel free to post updates here.
