I like that kind of cut for an event with two days of qualification. If you just took top 16 from each day, the first day would have a lower bar for making the cut.

Great day 2 today. Lots of different lists. Finished in 3rd today... Looking forward to the graduated cut tomorrow! I continue to be impressed by the X-Wing community and how much fun everyone makes it.

Nope. After more testing, it was just too inconsistent against Palp Aces. Knowing Nationals would have some of the best ace players, I felt like it was too big of a risk. Ended up being a little more boring I'm flying Bumpmaster (Adapt., Feedback Array, APL, R5-P8, Intel Agent) w/ 2 torp Scouts.

It's a couple months away from, and geographically close to Gen-Con, so it's not too surprising.

So, it's their first year at this event which I think holds people back. In addition, it's competing with gencon and worlds for people's travel money which makes it a bit hard. Personally, I'm having a good time and the event seems well run.

Also, Origins itself isn't a huge draw, although it's gotten much better than recent years.

I know I didn't go because I had to choose between it and Gencon. Too many events.

So 3-2 players were invited back for 3 rounds of Swiss today. FFG then dropped it to two games today meaning that there is almost 0 chance that x-2 player can qualify.

Personally I think it's a pretty sketchy thing to do and if I had bought a hotel room for the night to play today only to be basically told thanks for coming. I would be extremely pissed off.

the same situation occurred at Yavin. the field was so massive (414) that it was though that no-one on 7-2 could qualify. as it happens, one did sneak in due to some strange situations with modified wins and draws, but its still stupid. lots of people just dropped at the start of the day as a result.

the difference is, we all knew that beforehand. to spring that on people last minute is incredibly bad form.

Definitely agree with this as someone who plays 2 ghosts + A now. At Hoth i played 2 ghosts + B.

it is completely ridiculous. every single one of the Opens in Europe have been streamed. most of them to a very high standard with quality commentary and overlays. how is the US so behind on this?
