Help me shop...

If your loving and wonderful daughter was going to buy you a wonderful, gaming related father's day gift, what would you recommend she buy?

Assume you have all the EotE books and maybe the others, too. I don't really know which is which. And no dice. He has a huge box of dice he's been collecting since the 1970s.

I know it's last minute but I was wasting time while I was getting around to procrastinating.

I'd recommend miniatures or maps, but since you're blind I'd recommend miniatures, ones that are appropriate to the characters in your party and or the ship your party flies. If you describe the characters in your play group I can make a recommendation of wotc star wars minis (you could probably get the ones you want from trollandtoad.com or another store such as coolstuffinc.com

by that I mean I will try to find the names of specific appropriate wotc star wars minis if you describe them.

Speaking only for myself, I’m quite partial to some of the FFG X-Wing and Armada ship models.

I don’t play either of those games, but they have some very nice models of ships that I like to buy.

If you know that he has a favourite ship or two, which he hasn’t already bought, that might be an idea.

Or, if he’s a big enough Star Wars geek like me, you could always look into prop replica items, like helmets.

I have a Wedge Antilles “Green Leader” helmet I recently bought at “Star Wars Launch Bay” inside of DisneyLand, but you could probably find the same EFX model helmet at other locations (see [1] and [2], among others).

Of course, Wedge is not the only option, but that’s just an example.

You could also get a Star Wars replica lightsaber, or maybe one of the third-party models from companies like Ultrasabers. Again, it would depend on whether he has a favorite character and whether or not he already has one of the lightsabers in question.

If you can give us some more specifics, I’d be more than happy to do some research for you.

How about some of the Marvel Comics Star Wars volumes... I've just read Star Wars 1 & 2 (Skywalker Strikes & Showdown on Smugglers Moon) which I really quite enjoyed! I'm really tempted for the Darth Vader ones as well (Vader & Shadows & Secrets). Either way if he's anything like me then anything Star Wars related will make him happy :)

I'm assuming your dad already has The Book of Sith, The Jedi Path and the other two in universe sourcebooks. I'd go for the Han Solo Adventures omnibus: Han Solo at Star's End, Han Solo's Revenge etc... other than that a star wars tshirt maybe?

I wasn't sure if there were any sort of gm accessories that might not be star wars or eote specific that might make a nice gift.

I don't think i'd go with minis. They're a great suggestion. I know because my brother gets them for him. That's more my brother's department since they play those games together.

I'll ask my mom about those books, though. I have no clue which books he might already own. But if there's something any gamer would be glad to have, that's what i'm hoping for. I'd gotten him a bag of holding that he's used a lot and loves. He especially likes that, as soon as someone recognizes it, he knows they have something in common they might not otherwise bring up.

Well most gamers and gamemasters like to have special dice, or Gamemaster-Screens and accessiors like: shirts, braclets, googels.

For Books: that will depend on how much he like to go into the former Expanded Universe (now known as Legends) The Han Solo Triology is quite good (and quite old) and nice for GMs that are doing EotE campaingns.

Something that also would make a nice addition (if he doesn´t already have some thing like that) would be an organizerfolder (at best with a Star Wars/ Rebellion/ Impereal or Jedi Logo on it) where he can put all his notes made during the sessions.

Well, Keeping the Peace for the Force and Destiny line has the Armor Crafting rules in it, and makes a nice companion to the Special Modifications book (completing the crafting rules for everything). It would be useful for him in that regard (having rules very applicable to EotE) and will introduce him to the Force and Destiny setting a little as well!

Does he have the Adversary cards? For me, they are the best accessory for GMing FFG Star Wars.

Scum and Villainy

Imperials and Rebels

Citizens of the Galaxy

Last I heard, FFG charges a little high for shipping these decks, but you might be able to mitigate the cost by ordering all 3 at once.

The adversary cards and the 2 Critical Hit decks are amazing. They help with play so much. The Adversary cards have a nice picture and the stats for the bad guys on them, as well as a little back ground flavor text on them. The critical decks are nice, because you can pass them to the PC and have them describe the injury and then can take a bit of time to copy it down.

Other than that, ThinkGeek.com has some interesting things to get him, but I do not know about shipping time.

I'm going to jump on the NPC and Crit deck bandwagon. They're both amazingly useful products that really help the game.

You can also find those for slightly less shipping at Cool Stuff and Mini Market - if they have them in stock.

(Also, I'd throw my weight behind the crit card decks. Not quite as useful as the NPC cards, they're still pretty handy)

I saw that MM was out of stock, I didn't think to check CSI.

MM is likely to be not ordering much due to Asmodee's new online pricing policy

Would suggest a dice tray for rolling if he doesn't already have one. Very convenient and not very expensive. They can be found on Amazon.

For dedicated Star Wars (and/or Shakespeare) fans, a guy named Ian Doescher re-cast Star Wars into a Shakespearean light with "William Shakespeare's Star Wars." As a fan of both, I really enjoyed them but your mileage (and your dad's) may vary.

You can often find them in bookstores, or on Amazon here . He's completed the trilogy with "The Empire Striketh Back," "The Jedi Doth Return," and he's done the prequels as well.

I second the dice tray idea. I personally love WyrmWood Gaming as their's are handcrafted from wood. Very nice and sturdy, and fast shipping.

What did the powers that be do this time?

Lets take the dice tray to the next level - go with a Dice Rolling Tower! Think a rectangle with a hole in the roof that you dump dice in, with a bunch of plinko-sticks inside that mix the dice up good and proper and a catch tray where you read the result.

Actually this Tardis Dice Tower is kind of keen.

I don't know if he was hinting but the subject of this Steam Box thing came up that would allow him to play games from his computer on a TV. My brother took their Playstation to school and my dad said that he misses getting to relax in the media room with a game once in a while. I know he hooked his computer up to the TV before but i'd be the wrong person to try and guess why that's not good.

But all these suggestions are still useful. His birthday is this summer, too. He has the npc cards. I don't think he has any others, though. I think the dice tower idea might be a really good one! If it means no dice on the floor, i'm a fan. I've found those pyramid d4 dice with my bare feet more than once.

Shakespeare will be great, too. If they have an audiobook, i'd love it, myself!

And you took 1d4 damage.
