Skirmisher "Unrelenting Question"

By quartersmostly, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

"Exhaust this card after performing an attack with a melee weapon with one hand icon. Perform an attack that targets one of the same monsters with a different melee weapon with one hand icon."

Does this mean you must attack a monster that was targeted in the initial attack or just a monster of the same group that was targeted in the initial attack?

A monster that was targeted by the same attack. There are some attacks/ abilities that allow you to affect multiple figures with the same attack, and that would be the time that unrelenting allows you to pick another target. In my opinion, this card is badly written removing the word 'same' would be a lot clearer. Maybe this is a bit more common way to phrase something if English is your native language, but very confusing for the other part of the world.

Note: I did not distinguish between attack and affected . I don't know if the card needs that to work. Some community clarification is desired:)

The monster you choose for unrelenting must be a target of the first attack. Therefore, unrelenting does not combo with carve a path.

Thanks for the clarification.

@Zaltyre: Do we have a FFG answer confirming that the monster targeted with Unrelenting must have been a target of the attack used to trigger Unrelenting?

In the German localization, this card has received an errata (because of something else) and the errata'ed text now states that the targeted monster must have been affected by the first attack. This would mean e.g. that Carve a Path would combo with Unrelenting.

I personally do not, and I am unsure whether I found that from another thread or just inferred. My reasoning was that the long version of the card would be ( bracket material added by me):

"Exhaust this card after performing an attack with a melee weapon with one hand icon. Perform an attack that targets one of the same monsters [as the first attack] with a different melee weapon with one hand icon."

To me, that would be impossible if the first attack did not target any monsters.

Thanks for that response. Will add it to the list to ask FFG.

This list is actually growing by the day ...
