Could Rotating Firing Arcs Get Applied To A Wings In A Future Release?

By Scopes, in X-Wing

It isn't cannon but:

The slight A-wing's wing-mounted laser cannons could rotate up and down sixty degrees for greater fire control. Some of those designs even had their guns modified to swivel in a complete 360-degree arc, thus providing a nasty surprise to any chasing fighter.

No, those are definitely cannons.

Gameplay > fluff

Honestly As aren't poorly off (except poor marvel) and mobile arcs would be arc too much a hassle for their piddly 2 dice anyway

I agree that gameplay > fluff. I also agree that A-Wings aren't lacking too much, but I am fairly certain that the A wing had rotating wing tip cannons. Not sure about where I read that, but I am fairly certain it's canon. I'll do some research.

I agree that two dice wouldn't be pounding out the damage but being able to fire behind you is always helpful.

Given that mobile arcs require a specialized base plate I feel pretty confident in saying no currently printed ship will get an upgrade giving them mobile arcs. The only thing remotely reasonable similar to that would be a ship entering a new faction but even then it seems like it would be weird for say scum awings to get mobile arcs without rebel awings having them.

It's not completely impossible. Maybe an upgrade that goes into the missile slot that allows the A-Wing pilot to rotate the ship token, but without rotating the ship itself. The A-Wing remains forward facing, but its firing arc becomes a rear arc instead of a forward arc. Tying it to the missile slot will keep you from shooting Prockets out of your butt.

That's how we did it. Works fine as long as there are not a lot of them in a cluster and you want to move your arc.

It's already been linked on wookiepedia. Not canon, and not all a-wings, only ones that were specially modified.

A-wings? I don't think they could firing in a 360 sphererical turret. Some rotations but only in the front to assist with aiming, like a modern F-15 gun sort of.

I just wish that at release they could actually contend with the TIE Interceptor, but **** they really couldn't.

The source for the Awing firing backards was an old technical journal for the Rebels on the original 3 movies. I I have it somewhere laying around. Though I'm not sure how many other sources also reference it.

And as for targetting I'd guess the same little aiming scanner that Luke uses in episode IV. And one wouldthink it would work the same way. But it wouldnt be standard on all fighters and would still likely take some skill to be able to line the back of your firghter up with the enemy rather than the aft. that would be standard on all fighters. But yes a modification wod be needed to make it not just fire in the 60degree arc of up and down.

So again I'd ike to see only a specific named pilot or two get the modification. And as I said before, Pash cracken could be brought into the game for that purpose.

I don't think the a wings we have now will get a rotating arc because of the cardboard base problem.

But we have seen some info about a wings possibly appearing in later star wars movies, not to spoil anything. So a sf tie style a wing that's a Completley different ship could have multiple arcs.

Yep! I remember now...It was published by Starlog Magazine. I think I still have my copy as well. I always found that weird that those ships had that capability.

I assumed that was canon...guess it's not? What decided that Wookiepedia is canon (assuming it is)? I guess I feel like it's turning into "Star Trek".

FWIW, the Lego models for the A Wing also have the rotating cannons. I thought that interesting.

Anyhoo, not looking to go any further than that with it...just wanted to make sure I wasn't losing my mind.

I'd love to see Pash Cracken in the game as well.
