I don't view the Flight Crew program as a "You're in, but you're out" kind of thing where they reviewed and approved/rejected every application they received.

To me it seems like they were (are?) simply collecting information from potential resources in the community. Something where they have a searchable database of people who are willing to help out in the future if the need arises. They will be able to enter a zip code and a game type, and it will spit out a list of people in the vicinity.

This is 100% pure irresponsible speculation, based solely on my own opinion, and has no basis in fact whatsoever. Your mileage may vary. Some assembly required. Void where prohibited by law. Parents help you put it together. Batteries not included.
