RTL - Attack Actions that are not attack actions?

So, like 3 of this activation sequence has some issues.

First, if Ariad is already within 3 spaces of a hero, and therefore does not require a spot action, she spends her first action to Attack. Does she use her second action to attack a monster? or has she already spent the attack?

Second, Ariad usually spawns with a minion monster, is that the ONLY monster she can target with her attack?

Third, clarification, if the third action does count as an attack, she would only apply this if she could not get within 3 spaces of a hero after a move action?

Edit: I had tacked this onto a post from yesterday, but figured it needs its own post.

Hi!

Ariad would not be able to use 3rd activation entry if she already attacked a hero. After spotting a hero, if still too far (or no line of sight), she would then try to attack a monster within 5 spaces. It doesn't tell what monster to attack, so I suppose any (except itself)?

Thanks zxql,

I don't know why I was tripped up by 'Attack THE other monster', since the conditions at the end of the sentence make it singular.

I think you are correct, it just kinda felt like cheating when she has such a killer ability that she would almost never use (she even spawns within 5 spaces of a hero), so unless you are very spread out (and the one hero dies before she activates) or you attempt to run away and ignore her, she will probably never use this.

Agreed, if after attempting the spot action (if she can not move to space that would give her at least one viable target she would move as close as her speed allows her so she can be in a better position on the following turn) there are no viable hero targets she would then look for the monster with the least health remaining and within her line of sight . Seems to me she could pick from any monster on the board that fills that criteria not just her Arachyura.

An interesting tactic for sure, not one I think you'd see most of the time. Makes her a lot more dangerous if you try to run away from her to complete quest objectives though.

I could see it as a tactic if using the bard. kill a monster and spread the damage across the party 1 each, the bard then heals that @ the end of his/her next turn.

First, if Ariad is already within 3 spaces of a hero, and therefore does not require a spot action, she spends her first action to Attack. Does she use her second action to attack a monster? or has she already spent the attack?

Like with the physical co-ops, you run through the monster's list of options, top to bottom, and perform the first thing you legally can. Then, assuming you have a second action left, repeat. After the fist attack is performed, you cannot legally use any attack option for her second action, so you're done. (In theory she might spot a new Hero if the first was KO'd.)

Second, Ariad usually spawns with a minion monster, is that the ONLY monster she can target with her attack?

The wording is admittedly tricky, but like Luijod said, you can attack any monster, so long as it is the one with the least Health remaining within 5 spaces of Ariad. In case of a tie, you can choose which to attack. Also note that the use of the term "other monster" means that Ariad will never attack herself with this option.

Third, clarification, if the third action does count as an attack, she would only apply this if she could not get within 3 spaces of a hero after a move action?

Correct. That's the only way she'd get down that far on the prioritized list without using her attack action.
