Horror bottle episode - need help

By RedEyeManiac, in Game Masters

So my regular group has raised interest in a horror bottle episode of Dread ( https://dreadthegame.wordpress.com/about-dread-the-game/ )

I'm not the regular GM, but I've stepped in for this. I need some help:

  1. What do i do with my regular character? Should I leave him behind or have him as an NPC
  2. Who can my GM play? We have an astromech, Reggie (R3-G3), but she doesn't want to be a droid.
  3. I'm thinking of having the party check out an emergency beacon on a destroyed starship, either a scavenging or rescue mission. I need a monster or mystery to have on board. Any ideas for what it could be? maybe some old clone wars era assassin droids?

Any ideas would be welcome, I'd love to throw some ideas back and forth and see what people think

I'm going to go do the dishes and think a bit and then write something up.

I am concerned about keeping it tense and scary, but not actually killing any PCs

Do you have any of the Beginner game sets?

If not check out the downloadable characters for those, the links for which should be available in the relevant forum or just by checking out the product page for that set.

You might have to fine tune a couple of them then just have them be the ones to contact your players regarding a derelict ship with some salvageable gear.

Use the force & destiny downloadable characters as your villains with the character they didn't select being the one who tricked them into the ambush.

Alter according to your whim and have fun!

Horror Star Wars... haunted ship, sith spirits, intelligent (xenomorph) aliens/creatures, time slips -PCs repeat actions until they perform the required action to exit.

I forgot if you do have any of those sets have them stage the edge version aboard a space graveyard ala Space 1999 episode and instead of Tatooine its all in outer space!

If you use AoR that outpost is strangely derelict with the residents all zombies due to illegal Imperial cybernetics with the Imperial leader the one who killed them all and turned them into virtually mindless flesh automatons... well except for an arriving Lambda shuttle unaware what's going on serving as a potential escape route!

current ideas:

Our party has a Black Sun contact, Neemo, who is currently in the same city as the party (our GM mentioned her in the crowd in our last session). She will approach the party to task them with a mission to find and rescue any survivors from a Black Sun vessel that recently went dark. It's a large ship. 50+ crew, medical droids, compliment of battle droids, all operating under a Czerka Coporation front. The party will be promised a reward that I will discuss with the regular GM.

The party will locate the destroyed ship and make their way onto the vessel. They will find it operating on backup power generators, with signs of battle, but only from the inside, no exterior damage. At some point they will be met with hostile droid retaliation, and My regular character will be sedated and taken from the party. The party will investigate and find crew members incapacitated, kept alive with bacta pumped into them, their bodies twisted by medical experimentation (insert body horror elements).

Further investigation will reveal a 21B medical droid operating as leader of the droids, trying to complete its last given order: Keep the crew alive. The party is deemed a threat to the ships crew, and that is why the droids are hostile.

They must rescue my regular character, and upon talking to a crew mate, be told of a way to self destruct the ship by overloading the hyperdrive (blah blah science science).

  • What caused the ship to come to this state?

If the party is unable to complete the objectives, I can have the Black Sun bail them out, probably at the cost of some extra oblegation

Thoughts?

This is very cool, Our game is primarily Edge of the Empire, but I have all of the core rulebooks

I only own the Edge beginner game and we've played that as a group, so reusing characters isn't possible, but I'm fine with creating characters

This screams original Alien. You might consider researching rakghouls.
