Duty Question - does the extra roll over when you ding?

By Desslok, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

Okay, this might be in the book, but hell if I can find my CRB - so I'll ask here. lets say that you have 4 players and they all have 24 duty each for a total 96 group duty. In the next game, they blow up a imperial convoy and everyone gets 10 duty each, meaning that the group had 136 duty.

So - duty level goes up at 100, what happens to the excess? Does that mean everyone is at 0 or 9?

No, it "resets to zero"

Yeah, as soon as the group hits 100, anything over that is lost as everybody resets to zero.

Had that happen in the AoR Skype game I'm in more than once. But since our GM has been following Andy Fischer's suggestion of roughly 5 Duty awarded per PC per session, loosing a few points here and there hasn't been a big deal.

Hmmm, I just realized something. When the duty rolls over and everyone winds up at zero, the first game after no duty will trigger (being that everyone is at 0 and you cant roll that on D100).

So I tore through AoR about the Duty reset. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that having 0 Duty is fine. It won't be triggered until someone has Duty to trigger, which you gain by adhering to the Duty you rolled/selected at chargen. Or you could house rule that it resets at 5 and the next Contribution is at 105 (keeping the textbook 100 Duty per Contribution rank gain) if you really want to trigger someone's Duty.

Thoughts? Better answers?

Yep, which generally won't be that big of a deal since it'd only be for that one session.

Which kind of makes a bit of narrative sense, as the PCs are coming off of a "high" from their last successful mission and have been given a substantial "job well done!" from the Alliance in terms of the asset/s they acquired as part of their Contribution Rank increase. After they've been in the field for a bit (conclusion of their current mission), they won't be relaxed and thus more eager/active to take the fight to the bad guys (i.e. having a Duty score above 0).
