TIE Striker speculation
Edited by Draconis Hegemonia
The Empire needs more turrets! 2 attack and a turret slot!
If it is only an atmospheric fighter then we need not concern ourselves with its stats. Unless of course FFG is going to to a wave of atmospheric "fighters" which would include the Cloud Car are rebel Snow Speeder as well.
As far as X-Wing is concerned there isn't a lot of space to make a TIE Fighter "faster and better armed" before you run right smack into the TIE Interceptor. What are you going to do, give the Striker a TIE Fighter dial with the Interceptor stats and upgrade bar? How much less is the TIE Fighter dial worth compared to the Interceptor's? I think one point could be pushing it.
Nah, TIES are supposedly awful for atmospheric flight. It doesn't make sense to make a strike craft that meshes the Interceptor and Line, the Interceptor was designed to improve shortcomings over the Line because of the distinct lack of firepower and to improve speed as the Empire was America-China cheap in wanting shields.
The Imperial Army originally used standard Lines, FCs, and Bombers. That was the RPG result of the compromise, that didn't transition to Disney. It's likely they just threw the design together like the U-wing.
Has anyone noticed that you see the TIE Striker both with wings up and down? They have to be S-Foils.
Tie Striker
3/4/2/0
Boost/barrel roll/evade (Moves so fast the pilot can't focus.)
EPT's only
Title allows it to boost after executing a boost.
This expansion will come with 4 bank templates .
3 attack. Bombs. 4,5 speed greens.
More prophetical than speculant.
eh ffg kinda lost their chance to add 4banks (or any other odd templates like a straight up U-turn) in the last core set. Could still be a thing in a new core but unless they tapped into the Prequels or even more out there, the old Republic era, i dont see any reason to add another core.
Given that the striker has a bit of a backside to it i wouldnt be surprised if it had a bomb OR a crew slot. Doubt we'd see both but neverknow.
Be interesting to have another cloaking ship too since it looks like a phantom knockoff. Without the phantom-only Adv Cloaking, it would be played way different (cloak would be more of an approach/osh!t button than "cloak" like phantoms use)

No, that's just it flapping its butterfly wings.

That large ass seems to be more of a thruster than an ordnance pod like on the TIE /gt. It's likely to be a support craft for those pitifully named death troopers.
if the body of a TIE is twice the size for its THRUSTORS then that thing better be blazing fast with an insane dial/perhaps a title to go faster than speed5 (immediately do another maneuver type stuff)
Regular TIEs without the excess junk in the trunk are pretty fast as it is.
It's got to be more than 3 hull as well given the size.
This thing has a massive engine, possibly a hyperdrive. It is designed for speed, and Striker suggests it might be used in hit and run tactics. While I think Speed 4 bank and 6 Straights would be suitable, I do not think it is likely that this would occur outside a core set or that a new core set will be released. What could be done however, is a Title that requires you to boost before revealing your maneuver, and a dial devoid of hard turns. Another option would be a title that allows you to SLAM after performing an attack, playing into the hit and run style that the ship's name and aesthetics suggest.
Stats: 2Atk/4Agl/2Hul/0Shl Actions: Focus / Boost / SLAM or Evade Upgrade bar: None Cost: 12-14 point PS1
Not a prediction or a researched analysis, just what I'd like to see. A TIE built for speed, completely stripped down of armor and unnecessary systems, not designed to dogfight, but rather hit fast and run.
It's got to have a turret on the upgrade bar, since the TIE Striker has a bottom-mounted turret. Either that or a moveable arc with a title that gives one extra attack die via title if you fire in the front arc (since the turret can fire in any direction, but it's also got the standard TIE armament of two lasers directly below the front viewport).
TIE Striker with a turret? Well let's hope that actually happens. Nudge nudge /SF!
The Striker's top-mounted wings wouldn't block the turret from firing to the sides, unlike the TIE/sf.
Y-Wing pilots somehow manage not to shoot their own engine nacelles off, so I figure why not a highly trained Academy graduate? I mean if the drop outs can manage to handle a turret, why not the First Orders Finest? But, hey. Wave 9 was all about alternative arcs so... whatever. Gimme a TIE with a turret and I'll be a happy man.
