Road to Legend save location

By Lifer4700, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hello all,

Since the other RtL threads seem to devolve into arguments, and I didn't have the patience to wade through dozens of pages of internet peeps being internet peeps, I thought I'd start a new thread to ask my question.

Does anyone know where the save file is located on Android? I found it on the PC in the steam directory, but I can't seem to find it on my tablet.

The reason I'm asking this question is that I would like to be able to move save games between the devices.

When we play at my place, I like to use the PC which is hooked up to the huge display, room-filling sound, etc. But when I travel to someone else's place, I make due with my tiny 12" tablet screen.

I need to be able to move the save file back and forth.

Has anyone done this?

the lack of a central account/cloud save is a little annoying.

For £1.85 ($3) you can buy a slimline USB connector and play the app direct from your device to your " huge display, room-filling sound, etc" thus negating the issue.

(The save game will not be compatible between the steam PC version and the android device due to being a different platform)

Thank you for the suggestion, but I can use screen mirroring to do that now. However, a mobile device is a vastly inferior and a very poor substitute for a real computer in nearly every way (low 2560x1600 resolution versus 3840x2160, can only show two apps at once versus as many as I want, touch & swipe versus mouse & keyboard, etc.) - the only benefit is portability.

The platform should have nothing to do with it. I can't think of a reason why Android, iOS, Windows, Linux can't all share the same save file structure (compressed XML for instance) although I admit I am not familiar with Android development. If the save files are truly incompatible, then that's a choice made by the developers and it disappoints me - and hopefully, there will be some official mechanism "coming soon" to allow import/export of the saves (uncompressed XML for instance).

Regardless, I would still like to know where the Android save file is stored. If I have to, I'll just convert it myself. (I know the PC version isn't encrypted, hopefully the Android version isn't either)

Have you tried backing it up and transferring using something like Helium ?
I'm going to need to transfer the app & saves from one Android tablet to another shortly, and from what I can gather, using something like Helium is going to be the only way to do so.

Once it's backed up, you could run RTL in an emulator on the PC?

Oooh, now that's a good idea - thanks, I hadn't thought of that!

(I still want the files! lol)

The file is in when using file explorer

Android, data, .comfantasyflightgames.rtl, Files , savedgames folder. Each folder is labeled 0,1,2,3,4,for all 5 save spots. I just sent myself an email with the 4 files in it and downloaded it to my other device and created the same folder in my tablet. It loaded fine.
