Biggs Ability question.

By ChewfalconSolo, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Does Biggs ability consider a 360° arc at range one of his X-Wing? Or is it just within his firing arc?

Very confused on what it means by "friendly ships at range 1."

It could mean at Range one of his X-Wing or of the enemy. Could someone clarify this please?

It's 360° of his ship. Any friendly at R1 of Biggs can't be targeted. In fact if the enemy has a choice of weapons, like a range 2 missile or lasers and Biggs is R3 but another ship is R2 of the enemy and R1 of Biggs, the enemy has to use a weapon, the lasers, that can hit Biggs.

Obviously if Biggs is out of range or out of arc then his ability won't trigger.

Usually, when talking about pilot abilities, distance or range is measured from that pilot's ship. Modifiers like "in arc" will be noted on the card.

And welcome to the forums!

360 arc. Each allied ship that are close to Biggs, at range 1, are protected by Biggs.

Example A) Tie Fighter see Y-Wing and Biggs. Y-Wing is close to Biggs at range 1. Tie Fighter must attack Biggs.

Example B) Jumpmaster must use turret to attack since Y-Wing and Biggs is outside firing arc. Y-Wing is close to Biggs at range 1. Jumpmaster must attack Biggs.

Note that on some text there's "you". You means that ship. Attack "You" means must attack that ship.

If Biggs in in your opponent's squad and Biggs is a valid target for any of your ship's weapons, then no other enemy ships at range 1 of him are valid targets for any of your weapons. Any enemy ships further than range 1 away from Biggs are valid targets for any of your weapons that can target them.

Example: You have a YT-1300 with concussion missiles. There are three enemy targets; 1) Rookie Pilot at range 2, in arc, that you have a target lock on, 2) Rookie Pilot at Range 3, in arc and 3) Biggs, range 2, out of arc. Biggs is range 1 away from pilot 1), range 2 from pilot 2). Your valid targets are Biggs with your primary weapon turret, or pilot 2) with your primary weapon turret. You cannot declare a concussion missile shot on pilot 1), even though your concussions missiles can't fire out of arc or at Biggs because you don't have a lock on him, because Biggs is a valid target with one of your weapons and is within range 1 of pilot 1).
