Random musing: could FFG give us a new Kihraxz in a 'Scum Aces' with a *different model* and still be the same ship?

By xanderf, in X-Wing

As above. Players of SW: Galaxies, or those at least a bit familiar with it, know that the Kihraxz was a rather varied fighter design - many options out there for it.

Obviously, the model we currently have is the far bottom right design, but FFG has used others previously. Consider the fighter chasing ol' Roark Garnet in his card art:

Garnet-HWK290.jpg

...looks quite a bit like one of the other models of the Kihraxz, eh? Top right model, I think...

So...I dunno, as per title - just random musing. Seems FFG could actually include a Kihraxz in a 'Scum Aces' kit and have it look COMPLETELY different. So...not just a repaint, but entirely new model. Presumably include a title card that is 'Kihraxz-only' that works for the new design as well as the old design. (Precedent: the T-70 coming with an 'X-Wing-only' title in the form of 'Integrated Astromech'....that works for both the T-65 and T-70 designs)

well. HoTR falcon is technically a new model

if Scum aces got a new model though, it'd still just be an unpronounceable fighter regardless (new model, same exact cards/statline/ship-type etc). No reason to introduce another K as a whole other ship

Yeah, the question is really whether FFG would just give us the same Kihraxz model, again, in 'Scum Aces' (I think we are all presuming it'd be one of the ships included, as it kinda badly needs something to fix it) - with a repaint (to be fair, I wouldn't mind seeing it in Black Sun colors).

Or if they would go the route of using maybe-even-the-'same'-paint-scheme as the current release, but with new model for it, entirely, as an alternative path.

I think, generally, everyone assumes that the '... Aces' and '... Veterans' releases are always 'same models, new paint schemes', but it occurred to me that this is one of the cases where that might actually not make sense. (Granted, the 'Imperial Aces' was ARGUABLY another such instance - the Royal Guard TIE Interceptor should have been slightly different - but...well, that was a long time ago, and X-Wing's market share has grown by orders of magnitude since then)

I love the hot-rod style and would love it if we got it in the game.

Yes - instead of a repaint, they could give us the Vaksai with an appropriate title. They could also give us the Dunelizard as a Scyk upgrade with an appropriate title.

It would certainly bit a bit more interesting than the usual repaints; question is, would it be cost effective or practical for them to do so?

Certainly those two ships are prone candidates for a Scum Aces box, and more pilots and options.

You'll see this as the Vaksai before you see it as anything else.

I thought about converting my fighters if I would ever get some, so a new release would be ace, but I don't think it will happen

I would flip out with excitement if we got a new model of Kihraxz with an 'aces' box. I really like the style for the Kihraxz that they used in the LCG.

If FFG releases a different Khiraxz model and says it's the same ship then...guess what, it's the same ship.

They sure couldn't make an uglier one.

I would love a new model for the same ship. Would be an extra cash outlay for FFG so it is doubtful it will happen. May just need to get some plasticard and knives out to make a proper one.

Everyone seems to think they are ugly but the scum small base fighters are my favorites in the game looks wise (outside of classic ties of course).

Ill take one in black sun paint scheme.

Could they? Yes. Will they? I very much doubt it.

We will have different models for T-70s and YT-1300s in HotR. We could easily get different models for other ships where appropriate, though it may mark up the cost of the expansion slightly (new sculpts have got to cost more than simply new paint).

I'm less interested in a new model of the Kihraxz than a title/mod that makes it deadlier. Whether that is a maneuver-modifier, a defense-modifier, or something else, I'd rather have the ship be as deadly as it can be and give the Scum a good mid-range fighter.

I sooo wanted the other version of the Scyk instead of the one we got. So, yes please.

Honestly, this has gotten me thinking the scum aces release, whenever we get it, is going to have a new model for the K fighter and this model for the Scyk. I would buy those. Re-paints? Probably not.

Would be more interesting than just repaints, that's for sure. It's a pity the Royal Guard TIE Interceptor model didn't get its fins, but things like the Falcon in HotR (there are actually other subtle changes in that model beyond the new dish) mean something like that might actually be possible now.

I'd love it if they did, but I doubt they will. It'll probably be a repaint.

Can't agree on that.

it's one of the few real and good-looking ship designs, but sadly it's a jouster in a world of pain for jousters.

Btw: The Y-Wing also has two different modells

Btw: The Y-Wing also has two different modells

It has two different paint jobs, bit the Scum and rebel build the same. Alas.

They could but is it financially viable to do so that's the question.
