Power Distribution On The Capital Boards

By gerson2, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

So far, all of the capital boards have the same distribution of power icons (3 for KZ and 1 for QZ).
I was wondering if we could get something different on the next capital boards, for example 2 power icons for KZ and 2 power icons for QZ. This would open a lot of new strategies right at the beginning of the game. And, of course, the faction that would have this board as the capital would have to be tailored to play with this configuration. It would have to have a good percentage of cheaper cards so it could be playable at the beginning of the game.
I know there will be a lot of balance issues but do you think it could work ?

I think its still very early to make changes like that. The game is new, only has one Battle Pack on the market and hasnt yet grow his wings to make that kind of "risks".

But i hope the game will grow and grow and changes keep us on the edge.

: )

You're probably right.
Still, it's good to know that there are a lot of things to explore in the future of the game.

That would be pretty neat to have different capitals with different distributions of power. They could perhaps even be able to do actions!

Actually when i first heard about Skaven and of course assumed they would eventually get their own capital i thought they might make it

1 Power in KZ

2 Power in QZ

And make a lot of cheap skaven units : )

i love that idea...
i agree it is a bit early to impliment now...
but in the future i think it could b great....

Not sure we would see such capitals.

To me the power symbols on the KZ and QZ are much more a reminder of how many base power each section has more than something to "balance" the various factions.

The real pity is that the 8 HP each section has weren't tprinted on the captial board. With those HP not written in stone in the rulebook we could had imagine captial with less HP in QZ in trade of a second power, for example.

Last, to me, capitals are missing a special ability text that would add flavor to each faction (in addition to the strategies favored by each faction cards).

WHI capitals aren't L5R stronghold cards : they aren't the corner stone of a deck, they are just a reminder of some basic rules.

I could see a future expansion set (after Assault on Ulthuan) covering something like this, with named Capital boards. They don't have to be tournament-egal (due to balance issues when you aren't using the Expansion Set decks, and to avoid weirdness if both player is running the same named capital board), they could just be used to play the scenario depicted in the Expansion Set with the two decks provided (the cards in the decks would still be tournament legal). For example:

Storm of Chaos Expansion Set

Middenheim, Under Siege
Empire Capital Card
Kingdom: HP 7
Battlefield: HP 7
Quest: HP 7
- The Walls of Middenheim: At the start of each of your turns, you may put the top card of your discard pile into play as a development in your Kingdom or Quest zone.

Archaon's Encampment, Bastion of Chaos Undivided
Chaos Capital Card
Kingdom: HP 8
Battlefield: HP 5
Quest: HP 8
- Will of Archaon: While you control a Chaos character and your Battlefield isn't burning, units in your Battlefield get +1 Power.
