Random Affordable Ace Thought: Wedge and Mynock feeling Determined

An old Wave One idea likely discussed to death, but the idea is to get a cheaper Wedge (since he is blowing up anyway) that can actually stand up to a few rounds of fire. Is there any merit to this idea? I doubt it would be at all competetive but I could see this being very fun to fly.

Sadly Wedge hasn't aged well and while this might help him a bit it's probably not worth making him more expensive. I would use outmaneuver on something else for a similar effect.

I see a lot of outmaneuver wedge suggestions floating around, but as a frequent flier of the rebel ace, I honestly disagree with this pairing. Ohh yeah if and when it works it's awesome, but with how many ships usually try to hammer wedge early, it is very difficult to get out of every arc without a boost/barrel roll and often a combination. At that point with outmaneuver Wedge is too expensive to be worth what he's doing once or maybe twice. Outmaneuver is better on lower skill flankers that no one sees as a threat anyway, or hypermanueverable aces. I find Wedge does best going right for the throat. When backed up by some strong aces he can often punch through a threat before it kills him. He's best at killing ships with lower PS than himself so that he can offensively mitigate damage as best as possible since another ps 9 will likely get to shoot back. Finish the OS7 and lower first with wedge and another ace and wedge lives longer because fewer dice are hitting him.

Sorry got on a roll

Affordable? This is almost a third of your points on a ship with the defensive reliability of a wet paper towel.

That also requires your opponent to ignore it to be effective. At least there's not a ton of agi running around right now, that build used to be usless against half the meta.
