You are losing the token as well as a dial from another ship. It is a reason I never jumped in board the Tantive IV train. Though it may be the best option

Its more an imperial thing with Tarkin giving new tokens every turn its not that wasteful.

With rebels you can generally get away with Leia achieving the same thing.
