Ffg op creates Legal expansion site

This site is to be referenced for which expansions for all FFG games are legal at any point.

Good to know for the future that premier events have an 11 day waiting period.

That's much more of a PITA than product being legal upon release.

Wth. Banned list coming.

This has way more to do with stuff like Netrunner than it does X-Wing...

Well, that is an interesting change for Premiere tournaments.

Wth. Banned list coming.

The Banned List, as well as the Restricted List and Netrunner only Most Wanted List, will be in the FAQ. However, a few of the LCGs are getting close to starting rotation, so this will help with that.

It definitely is more for netrunner etc., but it could come into effect if veterans gets released next week.

But another of their reasons they posted on Twitter is to make sure that everyone participating at an event has had a chance to get the expansions and test them. Apparently distribution has had some issues in the past causing certain regions to not get everything on day 1 so this helps account for that.

Shocking that distribution is an issue!

Oh, wait...

So Soontir will be banned... What else?

Where exactly are you getting this from?

lol @ soontir being banned

the only thing that would merit it is palpatine

Go on, ban PTL.

Pretty sure nothing from x-wing will be banned. If anything it will be some of the card stuff.

Banning is typically something that only happens in card games. If something like that does happen, it will most likely come in the form of an X-wing 2nd Edition, with some ships/pilots not making the conversion.

This gives me hope that we are going to see Imperial Veterans before the end of the System Open Series. With an 11-day moritorium, they will be able to meet customer demand without upsetting the Series with newly available material.

Since this game has its own self dictated meta, banning cards isn't going to help anything, It will just create more issues than it would solve them. If I ban PTL, all of a sudden i'm not taking Sootnir, or Jake, or Tycho, I'm either taking Vader or Corran Horn, both who are semi-popular at the moment. If I ban The emporrer, the shuttle.... doesn't really change much, there's plenty of non- palp builds out there. If I ban VI then the PS war just turns into Wedge/Han vs Soontir/Vader vs Dengar/Talonbane, allot of your Ps 4-7 pilots all suddenly reduced because of the VI boost. If I ban Dash and Han I must also ban Dengar and RAC, and if I ban those ships altogether what is even the point of the tournament? Sure tournaments are both part Winning and having fun, but can you honestly crown a champion if he hasn't passed all the tests? Especially if one of those is (possibly) toppling a Turret list?

You guys know the banned and restricted lists are in the tournament rules, right? This site is only there for releases that will be right before major tournaments and for the LCG cycling.

What might be relevant is release legality - especially with now explicitly international tournaments, what do you do if an expansion is out in the US and France, but the Italian publisher is a couple weeks behind and the tournament is in Rome?

You declare legality ahead of time, is what you do. And a handy website is just the thing to do it on.

B-but, what about my dreams of a banned (blank)?

Agreed. Banning happens in card games, not x-wing - instead we see FAQ-based erratas (phantoms), or simply counter cards in future waves (autothrusters).

Just because they haven't used the Banned or Restricted lists doesn't mean it isn't an option. And last I checked, none of the current LCGs have had to use their banned list.

Not yet, but they've announced that the first two Netrunner cycles will be banned once cycle #8 comes out (late 2017?).

Rotation is not the same thing as a banned list. And early 2016 seems more likely.

Early 2017, perhaps. It's too late for early 2016. ;)

And they're banning previously-tournament-legal cards. So yes, it's a banned list.
