Custom Card League: VOTE on custom upgrades now!

I'm aware, just don't have time to click through at the moment. :)

Not seeing any of the upgrades I submitted along with my Dunelizard idea.

Either way, had fun voting. Lots of decent ideas that need to be refined, plenty of good ones that FFG should take a discrete look at.

I've now updated the part 3 poll to include those cards and a couple others I missed. Sorry about that, I had a lot on my plate and missed yours!

I encourage everyone who has voted already to take a quick look at the last few entries in the upgrades part three poll; there are a few new entries there.

@Babaganoosh

I'm looking at the results for the 3rd page and seeing about 23 people voted

and then on the first page there are about 42 people who voted,

and I'm thinking that says something interesting. What do you think?

Upgrades, Round 1, Part 1

Upgrades, Round 1, Part 2

Upgrades, Round 1, Part 3

Edit: Correct link and vote difference.

Your first link with 66 votes now is pilots, not upgrades. It was posted a day earlier so makes sense it would have more votes. First page of upgrades is only at 36. Still more Than the last page, but not by nearly as big a margin. And part of that is probably people who boted when it went up and the other links were broken. Aome might also just not want to do all 3 at once and will go back.

I'm worried that we're not going to get much variety from the winning cards. There are over 250 cards up for the vote, all of them for a different slot, and only 20 will make the vote. There is a very, VERY good possibility that the chosen cards will not be usable for some of the voted in ships. For instance, there is an overwhelming amount of crew cards, yet only one ship from the custom league has that slot. There's a good chance that one ship will get a lot of cards for it that other ships will not, which would lead to a major imbalance.

I mean, look at Wave 9. There are 9 cards in the ARC-170 pack, 5 in the TIE/SF pack, 2 in the Protectorate pack, and 12 in the Shadow Caster pack, and every one of those upgrades was specifically chosen to match that ship's upgrade slots.

What i think, is that we need to go down the line of the cards designed for the specific ships, chose 1 or 2 cards that had the highest rating per upgrade slot for each ship, then have a separate amount of surplus cards that won the overall vote, sorted so that there is not huge majority of one type of upgrade to make it the most fair.

I see your point; we may not get as many cards tuned specifically for the new custom ships as we might in a normal wave. But with all the cards already existing in the game I doubt that those ships need specific upgrades to fully flesh them out.

Remember that this project is supposed to be pretty open-ended, bringing in whatever cards people like, rather than focusing specifically on the custom ships and treating them like traditional expansions. I did make an exception to make sure that custom ships got unique pilots, but I think that's necesary to fully realize the custom ships in the game. Specific upgrade cards for those ships are less necessary, I think.

He's also overlooking the fact that the voting for the unique pilots, both new and old ships, isn't finished yet.

How many of the new ship unique pilots have crew and how many of the old ship new unique pilots have crew is separate and distinct thing.

But those unique pilots are not, technically speaking a part of the "new wave". My point has been that the new ships need cards to support them, as existing has the cards they need to support them already. A crew card or title for say an X-Wing has a strong possibility to outrank a title or specific upgrade card for one of the new ships, which would be a disappointing loss.

I'd say yes and no; some ships certainly would have needed upgrade cards to be fully functional in the game, such as the TIE Vanguard entry which sadly didn't make it into the top 4 ships. But I'm not sure that any of the current entries need any specific upgrades to be fully viable in the game. Meanwhile there are current ships that need upgrade cards to become viable, for example the X-wing. I think I would actually be more justified reserving a card slot for the X-wing than a new ship.

I think the luxury yacht could certainly benefit from the titles, but it has enough upgrade slots it should be able to function without em.

Yeah; the combo of accuracy corrector and autoblaster turret has already been shown to be pretty effective.

Other combos like TLT+FCS are probably also solid, to say nothing of combos with cannon, crew, etc. The ship is a great platform as-is.

Come on guys!

Yoda pushing rocks around?

That's fun times!

Nobody likes muh card. :(

Sometimes fun ideas are difficult to implement. This certainly seems like one of those cases.

Appreciating all the work and free time invested in making the poll possible!

I just figured people lost steam after voting on 100 entries but what are you thinking?

I would say there is a risk for that. Slight disadvantage for stuff on page 2 and certainly 3.

As for the doubles: When doing the voting Marathon you are no longer sure if that's a double you are seeing or just a very similar entry. Maybe thus not voting the same.

Maybe you have to look at the final voting results and maybe you have to adjust a bit for both problems. How do you avoid that a double does get more votes (up or down)?

You're welcome! It's been fun to run this thing so far.

One of the nice things about the voting formula I'm using is that higher total vote count doesn't necessarily confer an advantage to cards. The voting formula is: (like - dislike)/total votes. The ratio of like to dislike is what really matters, not total likes. I'm counting dislikes as the negative equivalent of a dislike because I thought people should be able to vote down ships they thought were broken. there's also a no opinion option if you don't feel strongly either way.

It can actually be better for a card's chances if you have a low total vote count. In those cases you can have high variance in either direction; a few votes up can bring your ratio really high. But every card has over 20 votes at this point and we're past that zone I think.

Doubles are probably at an advantage because they have two chances to get a good vote ratio. If any duplicated cards make it into the top bracket I'll have to give the issue some thought. I'd probably just average the two ratios.

Voting closes at 11:59 EST tonight! Get those votes in!
